  5. Volleyball Social April 26, 2024 - 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm Wakefield Crowbar 954 Wakefield Drive Houston, Texas, 77018 Volleyball for the not so serious volleyball player! If you like to play volleyball but don’t want to commit to a league, you want to learn how to play or you just want to meet others who are up to getting active outdoors, then our Volleyball Social is the place to be! Although this is a volleyball event, this event is not designed for hard core volleyball players who want to be on the court all night. This event is about meeting people, sharing interests and planning other adventures! Every month, we have between 30-80 people show up for this event. We post on all internet calendars so if you want a better representation of who’s going, click the event list and scroll to the bottom to see RSVPs. Event Link: https://htxoutdoors.com/events/volleyball-social-17/ Don’t you want to play volleyball? No problem! Plenty of people come out just to socialize on the large patio, play a game of cornhole or ping pong! Plus, they have a full kitchen and bar, including 30+ taps. What to expect: Parking: Crowbar has a free dedicated parking lot. If it’s full, there is a paid lot close by or free street parking. Although 5-10 minutes to find parking. How to find the group: Look for the HTXoutdoors and Bayou City Outdoors items on the tables. We are usually on courts 1 and 2. They are side by side. About the group you’re meeting: Because this event is open to everyone, we get a lot of people who are coming out for the first time! That means not everyone knows each other yet so you don’t have to worry about crashing a group of people who have been friends for years. So if everyone is chatting up a storm when you get there, it’s just because they have quickly realized they have a lot in common. And even when some of the people know each other, they are still there to meet more people with similar interests. Come out and meet others interested in hiking, biking, camping, kayaking, rock climbing, and more! It’s a good chance to meet each other. It’s an even better chance to plan some adventures. RSVP at https://htxoutdoors.com/events/volleyball-social-17/ For additional info e-mail to info@HTXoutdoors.com

  12. Dinner after Full Moon Hike February 24, 2024, 8:15 pm - 9:30 pm Canyon Creek Cafe 6603 Westcott St, Houston, 77007 Let’s face it. When you go on a hike, and you don’t really know anyone, you tend to just talk to the person who’s walking next to you. And while we try to mix things up on the hike, there’s no better way to get to know people than over a little food and drinks! 😀 Whether you hike with us or not, meet up for some dinner and drinks. How to find the group: Look for the HTXO Sign and the group of sweaty people who look like they just hiked! 😀 NOTE: Our hike is done at about 8 pm at Memorial Park, so if you arrive before us, please grab a table outside. Parking: There is a small parking lot and street parking. Watch for not to park signs near the residential houses, and do not leave anything visible in your car. RSVP at https://htxoutdoors.com/events/dinner-after-full-moon-hike-5/ For additional info e-mail info@htxoutdoors.com
  13. Full Moon Hike February 24, 2024, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Rally Pavilion at the Running Center QH83+3P Washington Avenue Coalition / Memorial Park Houston, Texas, 77007 Prepare for Moonlit Magic! When the full moon graces the night sky, an enchanting transformation can occur. While we can assure you that no one has turned into a werewolf or Count Dracula during our full moon hikes at HTXO (so far), we are firm believers in celebrating the ethereal beauty of this celestial event with a leisurely moonlit walk. Join us for an enchanting journey under the full moon’s radiant glow and immerse yourself in the captivating lunar landscape. It’s a night of celestial wonder that you won’t want to miss. About the Trail: We are hiking on an actual trail with hills! Yes, right here in Houston! This is not a paved path, which makes it interesting when you hike back at night, in the dark! We’ll hike about 3-4 miles. What to bring: - Red Light Headlight / Red Light flashlight – You can get these really cheap at Walmart or Academy, so please pick one up! Using a red light will help you keep your night vision; it won’t scare off the animals as much, and you won’t get as many shadows. - Water: Stay hydrated before and after the hike. Bring water for the hike. It’s more comfortable to have a backpack to carry it in than to carry it with your hand. - Sturdy Shoes: These are actual dirt trails, and it’s night: no platforms, no slippers or flip flops. We will check shoes before the hike, and inappropriate shoes will need to stay back. No Dogs: Most of our events are dog-friendly. Since this is nighttime and there are snakes, there are no dogs on this hike. Adults only, no Kids: We are an adult social club, and our night hike is not suitable for kids. Leave No Trace Please throw away any bottles or trash you have. Bring a shopping bag and pick up some trash during the hike. Where to Meet: We meet at Rally Pavilion at the Running Center. Map: https://maps.app.goo.gl/TohzVhGDtjYcrEYx5 Parking: Parking is directly next to the Rally Pavilion, with a $2.00 parking fee. Fees: The hike is free, but there is a $2 parking fee. 15. 2024 Switzerland Trip Information Meeting February 12, 2024, 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm Online Is Switzerland on your bucket list? It has been on my list for years, and I’m ready to make this happen. During this information meeting, we will discuss the basic questions you may have about our 2024 Trip, such as: what is the time difference, do we need VISAs, how many to a room, is there a single supplement, what is the distance and elevation of the hikes, etc. We may also hear from BCO Members who went on this trip this past. May to give us a first-hand account of her experience and what you can expect. So join us for this informational meeting, and then sign up, and let’s go hike the Alps together. If you have any questions, please email us at info@htxoutdoors.com RSVP at https://htxoutdoors.com/events/2024-switzerland-trip-information-meeting/
