  1. I'm surprised that no one has jumped at the opportunity to mention the Bible and other religious books. I think that most people would say that that is the one book that influenced their lives the most .
  2. Once upon a time there was a talking spider who lived in a barn. One day the spider was out taking a walk and came across a little girl sobbing by the side of the road. "Whatever is the matter?" asked the spider. "Eeek! A talking spider!" screamed the little girl as she ran away as fast as her legs could carry her.
  3. I totally agree with you, Sdamus but I also think that fighting back when dealing with such people is futile. It only encourages them to go further with their vile behavior. The best way is always to withdraw from such situations rather than engage them.
  4. You know I'm always surprised at the number of people who will tell you that they want more money and yet if you ask them what they would do with that money, they couldn't give you a straight answer. So many people would love to have that $25K but not many would be able to wisely invest it.
  5. That is a really good book. I have to admit that I didn't know the power of my self-image in creating my life as it is today until I read that book. It's one I would read again and again until all the concepts have sunk into my subconscious mind.
  6. You can never go wrong with the classic authors. Get the whole collection from Dr Seuss, Other authors and illustrators that I think are great are Roald Dahl and Maurice Sendak.
  7. "Always remember that you are absolutely unique... Just like everyone else!"
  8. You may be right. There are those among us who don't seem to have any conscience at all. I wonder what has to happen to a person to turn them into that cold, uncaring thing.
  9. My house is going to be filled with kids - nephews, nieces and neighbors over these holidays and I want to have a host of activities ready for them. Any ideas how to entertain half a dozen kids of various ages?
  10. At what age is it a good idea to teach kids the importance of saving money? And what are some of the techniques that you can use to instill these habits and make sure that they stick with them over time?
  11. I have more than I can count, but some of them are really small. The great thing is that when you put them all together you've got a healthy income that you don't do anything to get except get it started and flowing.
  12. That sounds like a really great idea. Personally I created a subscription program that I sell online that provides me with recurring monthly income. Also I have other people selling the program on my behalf as affiliates, so the money comes in without me lifting a finger.
  13. For those who have been residing in Houston all their lives, how well do you know your skyline? What's changed over the years? Any old buildings torn down or any new names?
  14. Great piece. It's amazing really that none of us had heard about this talented architect until now. I think that it's to be expected that he would want to surpass his previous goal. I can't wait to see what he produces next.
  15. I've been looking through this thread and all these pictures are so beautiful I've been inspired to go out and take a few of my own. Quick question, can anyone submit their photos here?
  16. I have to say, I'm with you on that one. Until I moved to Houston I had never really appreciated the beautiful skyline. It definitely is one of the best in the world as far as I'm concerned.
  17. I can only wish that I stayed in a place where I could hear those kind of noises in the night. Unfortunately for me all I hear are sirens and car alarms going off. I am eagerly looking forward to the day when I can finally move from this neighborhood to one that is at least a bit quieter.
  18. I've heard of people getting hit by cars and on a less macabre note, falling into rivers or throwing their phones against a wall while trying to 'swipe' and these stories didn't seem real to me until now. I guess some people really committed huh?
  19. That is too true. Too many of us are not living our fullest lives because we are too worried about what other people are going to think about our choices and so we let go of what we really want in favor of what society says is good for us. So sad...
  20. I think you're right Cookiie, and don't underestimate the power of stretching. It has a whole host of benefits and it's certainly better than nothing.
  21. Speaking of holidays, one of the things that I am dreading is having my inlaws under the same roof as my side of the family. Last time we did that it was a total disaster.
  22. I don't think it's odd at all to try to find some humor in every situation (no matter how morbid...) I do it a lot too and I've come across a lot of funny gravestones in my time.
  23. I would suggest that you start your very own online business using a passive income model. This will ensure that you have money coming in for the rest of your life and it will ensure time, money and location freedom for you.
  24. Have you ever thought about creating your very own digital product like a video course or program teaching some skill or talent that you have and putting it up for sale? Or you might even write an ebook and sell in Amazon KDP for free. Thoughts?
  25. I know that we all live busy lifestyles here, but it's always a good thing to try to incorporate a bit of physical (and mental) exercise into your daily routines. What are some of the ways you can get some effective exercise in a short space of time?
