  1. He hasn't been on since July 29th. 500 on the Illuminati holding him in house arrest.
  2. The actual height should be a bit taller than that. There are some roof components that aren't included in that number.
  3. Miami should be ranked higher than Houston soon. They have ~4 topped out 150m+ and another 15 or so u/c and a bunch more proposed.
  4. Geez, if you want to simulate the beauty of a historical building DO NOT PUT BALCONIES ON THEM. I love historic buildings to death and of course I'd want more, but please do not put balconies on them!
  5. Interesting color scheme with the blue and white. Still looks progressive for Houston. Somewhat futuristic. Perhaps not up to the bar that the first design set but it's honestly pretty nice.
  6. Wow, I had the same thought on the bus this morning! The Calatrava bridge, that is.
  7. http://www.bizjournals.com/houston/news/2016/10/05/exclusive-houston-hotelier-to-launch-co-working.html?ana=e_hstn_bn_exclusive The Zimmerman family is redeveloping 4 historic buildings on the north side of Downtown. The brick facades and marquee designs will be restored and the buildings will be used as co-working space. The family has likened the space to an old building in New York City. They have purchased 104 Main, 108 Main, 110 Main and 112 Main for redevelopment.
  8. I would love to have more neo-deco buildings around the Market Square area. I don't know my stuff too well, but I believe deco has many architectural motifs and designs, which this tower seems to lack. The setbacks, however, are very nice.
  9. Yeah, but Upstate isn't too relevant in this conversation, is it? We are talking about The City..
  10. I would love many more buildings that just scream history when you see them. I really love historical buildings and it'd be super cool if we could get a cool Robert A.M. Stern building up in here, as we don't have too many older skyscrapers. In my opinion, there's nothing more beautiful than a tastefully done historically building, and I appreciate the fact that the architects are attempting to blend their buildings in. (I believe that the Aris' base is pretty respectful as well, it looks like it could disguise itself as an older building, other than the glass shard, but I find the conflicting styles interesting and attractive.) This next part is a bit unrelated, but hey, this is an architectural forum. In my opinion, there's nothing better than a tastefully done cornice on a historic building! I wish a developer could build a few midrises/highrises in a neo-historic fashion, though that might not be too economical.
  11. Does anybody know the age of that retail building on the block? I don't know my styles too well, but it looks art deco. It has a cool funky thing going on. I would hate for it to be torn down.
  12. I don't think the views from the video make much sense, but alright... But dang! An Aventador! other notes: +1 point for 4:20 video length -1 point for this Sudhoff dude's extremely optimistic beliefs (something about "It's gonna set a new standard in the condominium world worlwide")
  13. For some reason, the lighting and stuff in this rendering reminds me of New York. Very Gotham...

  15. http://swamplot.com/ivy-lofts-to-release-even-newer-drawings-in-october-break-ground-in-january/2016-09-23/ The new design is apparently not going to be the design that will be built. An even more updated design by a new architect will be released in mid-October.
  16. i remember reading this on some post a while ago saying that this tower, if successful, could trigger the construction of new condo towers downtown i hope that happens, with foreign investors and domestic investors starting a nice boom downtown
  17. there's gfr here!!! nahh jk but i bet a lot of y'all would love this license plate lol
  18. Wow those historical buildings are beautiful! Such a shame that Houston seems to hate them. But I guess people will do anything to make money. edit: Whoa! There's an old abandoned single family home directly south of minute maid near the Incarnate Word Academy. Looks like a nice house and it used to have a neighbor two years ago. I hope it doesn't get torn down, its a pretty house. BTW, it's on this short street called Chenevert.
  19. i know this is pretty unrelated (actually its super unrelated) but do any of yall think that a residential skyscraper boom could happen in houston after this rebound? perhaps not as large as miami but like at least a good 5-10 150m residentials within the next 10 years edit (im just mad at miami whenever i look at their stats i just get infuriated! they have 22 150m+ u/c! and whats even more ridiculous is that not a single one is office! all of them are residential except a few hotel/resid. towers) but i am curious as to what miami's street activity looks like given all of these residential towers and i would hate for our downtown to only feel more dead due to a bunch of resid. towers i guess its pretty obvious now that ive never been to miami but at least i have enough years left to waste a few days in miami wow is this becoming a rant lol

  21. @thatguysly The building is not yet at half of the final height, as the crown adds to the height and doesn't count as a floor.
