I organized a 3.5 mile walk from Graffiti Park to Post zigzagging through downtown Houston with locals and out of towners this past weekend. It was fun seeing all the murals. I wouldn't do it during summer though .. This is the general route we took.

City declines to release records about Houston Avenue median, citing terrorism concerns
Quote“They’re arguing that information about traffic congestion should be exempt from disclosure because if terrorists know where traffic is congested, they could plan terrorist attacks, which is something I’ve never seen argued before,” said James Hemphill, an Austin lawyer on the executive committee of the Freedom of Information Foundation of Texas.

Mayor Whitmire defends decision to remove Houston Avenue medians
QuoteWhitmire denied that Trinity Downtown church had anything to do with his decision to direct Houston Public Works to tear down the medians and curbs that were installed as a pedestrian improvement project last December. The first time Whitmire learned of the median project was just minutes into the start of the New Year when he rode along with Houston Police Chief Troy Finner on his first night in office. It was Finner who pointed out that these medians were "a public safety issue," Whitmire said.

At a recent city council meeting, Mayor John Whitmire decried ever-expanding fees and costs to the public to go to public parks, and called out Memorial Park by name.

Developers don't care once people have bought their homes. Remember those homes built inside the reservoir that flooded during Harvey? I wouldn't be surprised if there is language in the home deeds that says TCR has the ability to ED land at rate agreed upon with developer.

Redo of Houston Avenue to cost $230k, more than double the initial median work
QuoteComparing that with the initial $100,000 cost to install the medians, critics of Whitmire’s decision – who argued it was a rush to judgment – said the updated cost is unfortunately borne by city residents and visitors.

Houston is filled with empty office buildings no one wants. Why aren't more turned into housing?
QuoteThe idea of converting office buildings to residential use is being pitched in Houston — and around the world — as a way to restore property values and reduce vacancy rates, which locally average about 25%, according to commercial real estate company CBRE. But wary investors, rising construction costs, a dearth of government subsidies and outdated property values are stifling efforts to convert more Houston offices.

People should start hammering Whitmire if even hints at removing any biking/pedestrian infrastructure. "Houston Ave, never forget"

My wife spent an hour in the rain plugging 100¥ coins into those machines. Thrill of the hunt, I expect.
My favorite are the capsule machines that have toys/pins that are specific tourist areas. It's like the penny machines that used to be at tourist sites in the US.

Since Post is a destination, I see it as meeting rooms or event space to support the hotel clientele and their demands (weddings, conferences, etc) to increase reservations.
They already use building on the lawn area for weddings and corporate events.

They must leave the construction lights on as it's crazy bright in these sections at night.
