  12. Great sensationalism! Are you a journalist? The city wasn't underwater. There were some streets and some parks, within the bayou floodway, that flooded. Both are designed to flood. FYI: Violent rain is defined by a precipitation rate that is > 50 mm (2.0 in) per hour. Some areas got close to 8" within a 3-4 hour period. Several places got around 4" in an hour.

  17. They've hauled away lot of the rubble and the frame to the original station is still there. My guess is just a new gas station. It was always a lot less crowded than the much nicer Chevron across 610. It was open until Harvey and then closed after flooding.

  20. I'm with you, @OkieEric. My house is a 50s original in the 100 year plain and has never flooded. New mapping and Atlas 14 will show a much different flood map than what we use today.
  21. Why save it though? I understand saving something with historic or architectural significance, but this one is neither and ugly...
