  1. Though better than abandoned fields 5 minutes from downtown? (not actually sure if its better)
  2. Intersting. I wonder if it is just expanding the branch or if it is the start of a development
  3. Are these building entirely built on spec? There's been no signs on a tenant
  4. 99 between 10 and west park is just a state highway. If they use 146 to complete the loop, they would just re sign it as 99 and not charge tolls
  5. The headline is on point and this quote: ”Despite being designed specifically to allow safe passage for METRO buses, local drivers appear to have struggled to avoid the bright yellow, sidewalk-high lip of the island stops.”
  6. Yeah the armadillos are definitely being decimated by trucks along Polk
  7. I don’t like that it is being called “east downtown” when it is outside of the east downtown super neighborhood
  8. I was thinking at 45 but an underpass at the school would be line with what metro likes doing but hasn't actually done yet
  9. Is this the industrial version of a house flip?
  10. What if it goes under? First subway tunnel in houston only to avoid that intersection
  11. It is odd that it was a sharp corner. The floating bus stops on polk don't have that sharp corner. Also note that there is no bus shelter on there or even a bench
  12. It's marketing- the cooler the vehicle looks, the more likely the people who have cars will consider using it
  13. Why fill in the medians with concrete instead of greenscaping? I noticed the same thing on the medians on Hwy 3 in clear lake
  14. And it's possible on a larger scale - the DC metro was automated originally, and I think the Paris might be now. I know any with doors are automated - In Houston that means stations a/c
  15. They still have drivers on board? What is even the point then?
  16. It has painted tracks for the autopilot to follow, similar to how new cars do automatic lane keeping. Cost wise, you’re removing the driver of the vehicle, and depending on the quality of the automation you reduce the platform gap and can even allow for platform gates. the paint I feel would wear quick in Houston though, and I doubt it can run in the semi mixed traffic that the BRT and light rails deal with in Houston
  17. The problem in Houston is not the technology used for the mass transit, it is getting high quality dedicated right of way where it’s needed
  18. Wow I didn’t remember I even posted that map. I do remember my thinking for door to door service - if one of the useful destinations is the airport, time matters, and waiting 15 minutes for a connection would make people less likely to use it. My idea as one of the customers for all week use would be travelers who don’t want to drive and pay airport parking prices on the other side of the city.
  19. And they are busy upgrading TX-146, so once segment A is built 146 will magically become 99
  20. In 2017 the Yankees actually put names on the back of their uniforms for “players weekend” https://www.nj.com/yankees/2019/08/yankees-aaron-boone-tired-of-silly-players-weekend-jerseys.html?outputType=amp
  21. They’re going to build on the mystery arrow? :(
  22. At least for me biking around, roads with real off street shared paths (holly hall, bagby, and Cullen south of 45) are the nicest streets to bike, better than the high comfort lanes on Austin and Lamar because you get shade and real buffer between you and cars
  23. Good tree cover is definitely superior to awnings, but it would be nice to have a variety
  24. It's more relevant in Houston rain wise, at least in downtown. The few blocks with covered sidewalks can make even a large rain storm just anusiance - but only on those blocks
