What's great about those shots is that I would totally walk down that street at night, and that's what we need visitors and residents to feel.

Both of the cranes on this tower currently have American flags flying on their hoists! Highest flags flying in the city?!

This building has really grown on me, as far as being part of this neighborhood. As discussed above, the street-level feel is starting to become clear though I will save my final verdict for how it interacts with Market Square Park across the street. To my eye, it combines the Chicago School window pairings common in the Historic District with the white slate Modernism of The Lyric Center and One Shell Plaza. And yet the whole thing looks so Miami Beach to me, especially the gaudy engineering feat of the rooftop cantilevered pool. It's on the other side of the park from Aris, and couldn't be further away in statement and style.

Is this the first time anyone can think of where tourism ruined something in Houston for the rest of us? We've arrived! Also, if it's the tour group company I am thinking of, this doesn't surprise me at all that they didn't follow instructions and were generally a hassle.
