The Galleria Mall At 5085 Westheimer Rd.
MiDTOWNeR replied to TreaderCRC's topic in Uptown and Galleria Area
Heaven forbid someone prefers something to Houston. -
Unfortunate, as business will suffer due people having to wonder if its open or not. Perhaps a set of glass doors that are not tinted might make things look a little more open. Even with the entrance door propped open, with the tinted windows it is hard to determine if anyone else is indeed dining in the establishment. Doesn't make one want to try a new place if you have to wonder whether anyone else is eating there or not. YES! The building has very poor line of sight....So the simpler or less cluttered the outside appearance, the better.

That is funny that you mentioned the Sony Style store. Allthough their products may be upscale, their employees are nothing more than what you might find at a Best Buy or Circuit City...a bit on the ghetto side. The Sony Style stores actually do a diservice to their products intended upscale audience. Where does this new jersey reference come from? It's like you remember one or two references of New JErsey in my posts and assume that I think New Jersey is great or something. Nothing could be further from the truth. New Jersey is not the only other place in which I have lived outside of Houston. And I RARELY hold up New Jersey as a example of what Houston should hope to be like. It is unfortunate how similar the two places really are actually. I am a West Coast Dude and think West is Best! -
The tinted windows make it look closed and univiting at all times of the day. they should also remove the few trees that are standing directly in front of it.

In the Sept 7th Wall Street Journal there is an article about Wal-Mart changing up the format of it's stores. In the article it clearly in plain english explains how in some stores with a strong African American customer base there would be expanded sections of the stores for that demographic group. If Wal Mart via the Wall Street Journal can explain how they are tailoring their stores to the likes of the majority of the customers who shop in specific stores...It is perfectly okay to say that the new Target does not have a large white customer base. Get off your hollier than thou throne.

Your experience can happen almost anywhere. Why it was so noteoworhty in the parking lot of target is bizarre. But i was there this evening and there a very sexy security guard standing just inside the front entrance. check him out next time honey! What are you distrurbed about? I have been several times and noticed that CRACKERS are definately minorities in this store. Facts is facts! No evil plot or anything. goes to show that large families can do quite well on non taxed income. I'll bet the new Wachovia that has started construction will be looking to tap into sum of dat! AMEN sister!

6th Street is like Cancun without the beach. White trash clubbing. Emphasis on WHITE -

What a shame. What could possibly be done to make your friends from Austin impressed with Main at midnight? -

And the worlds largest mall is also a white trash mecca. There is a SEARS for gods sakes. Not quite the image the Galleria wants. NO CINEMAS. -
Unnecessary...perhaps. But c'mon...we all know it's most likely true. A little boy excited about being in the NEW Tarjay. PUH LEEZE people...lighten up!

That is fine and dandy that Houston is on an upscale retail upswing, but so long as the typical unsophisticated socially retarded yokel is working in them, these stores will do nothing to boost the image of the city. Its the interaction wit da peeps that enhance or not enhance the overall image. -
There will probably be a ghetto cell phone store or an even more ghetto radio shack. Perhaps a coldstone/marble slab ice cream place.

I am probably just being impatient, but will they be repaving that stretch of Sawyer/Taylor in front of the new Urban Target?
