  1. Looks like some sort of armature for a facade mock-up. The tower is pre-cast concrete, but the podium is stone I think.
  2. Steel is starting to go up on the Ballroom! http://oxblue.com/open/landrys/1600wloop
  3. She's officially a high-rise. Twelfth floor poured and 13th 14th formwork underway. Things should be going faster with typical floor plates now.
  4. 496' to the top of parapet was the last I saw based on the additional floor.
  5. Looks like a lot of activity on the South side of the project. She's going to be a lot larger than we thought. Plenty of room for slots and gaming tables after all.
  6. Hmm. Looks like the article now says 36 stories. Guess the the Til-man got a bit too excited during the interview! It's funny how things can get exaggerated. 38 did sound better though. Wonder if that new foundation could support it?
  7. MAT FOUNDATION POUR UNDERWAY ! ! ! ! Hope they beat the rain! http://oxblue.com/open/landrys/1600wloop http://www.click2houston.com/news/tilman-fertitta-announces-multimilliondollar-development-in-uptown-galleria-area/36142078
  8. The International Building Code defines a highrise as a structure with 12 or more stories above grade, or more than 75 feet in height above fire department vehicle access. There is a further special definition for super tall highrises above the 420 foot height limit with more restrictions for egress and life safety requirements. The City of Houston has yet to adopt the 2012 IBC which has much greater restrictions for super tall highrises.
  9. Given that it is a Randall Davis building, I assume the white is probably styrofoam board for an EIFS skin. Nothing but the best finishes! Of course, he could still ugly it up more with a really obnoxious color. Our only hope is for a total eclipse by the Post Oak.
  10. Construction Cam Link just posted by Landry's. The time-lapse feature will be great to watch in the future. http://oxblue.com/open/landrys/1600wloop
  11. Haven't had a chance to post any pics in the last few weeks. There's quite a large hole in the ground now. The power has also been shut down the last couple of weekends switching over to the new transformers for Landry's. The temporary generators are sitting alongside the pit.
  12. A quick peak over the fence at lunch. Demo has begun for the foundation excavation. Looks more like Lake Landry's right now with all the rain!
  13. The old north parking lot was shut down to all employees this morning. Let the digging begin!!!
  14. Does anyone know what the height is of the tallest building on the West Loop (other than Williams Tower)?
  15. My buddy tells me they are getting ready to shut down the old parking lot on Hollyhurst in the next few weeks to start work on the building. The rest of the "new" parking lot is finished so they can shift the cars over. Most of the underground utility work appears to be complete. Hallmark is also torn up right now for repaving. Its very difficult to get in and out of the parking lot. They are shuttling employees back and forth on site with a stretch golf car so people don't have to walk. Didn't know Fertitta cared that much. ; ) They also relocated a dozen or so trees from along Hollyhurst to along the 610 frontage road (instead of cutting them down) before they start working on the building. Still appears to be moving forward....We need some good overhead pics though!
  16. I have a friend who works there. Evidently they added the new parking because they are digging through some of the existing parking lot to install pipes for the new building.
  17. I would have to agree with you. If lit, just plain white. It would be a real shame for this thing to look like a MetroNational building on I-10.
