The garage is to help support the new ballpark village development. Was always part of the plan from the beginning. Nothing new here

hmmm i recall him wanting to specifically build an underground garage so that he could build on top of that land. He was still working to convince the church of that the last tie i heard

Does this mean Crane was not able to buy this block for more space for his entertainment development? I know he mentioned he was hoping to build them an underground garage or something so that he could build on the lot.

I was headed to the Continental Club for the Fistful of Soul show. They haven't played here in a couple years and have moved to Lil' Danny's Speedo's Go Fly a Kite Lounge for a while. They do an occasional late Sunday afternoon show there now.

Daley Sports Club took over the Brass Tap.

I went here Saturday night and it’s a big step down from Brass Tap IMO.

Tom's did a soft, soft opening on Saturday night as said by their bar manager. Went there after the Rockets game. You don't know how nice it is to be able to walk three streets and find a place to hang out with TV's facing the street and people sitting on the patio with generally good vibes. Food was fine, typical bar fare, burger was good, etc. Good/great drink specials. The bar facing the street/patio has a great view.

They will be announcing this later, but they are going to be in partnership with the Rockets and will have the official pre-game location. Wish Crane and Co would hurry with the minute maid bars, the ability to make money is so clear. It was a clear funnel from Toyota Center to the bar, and about 30 mins after the game there were tons of people from the game there checking college football games, talking, etc.

I randomly drove by Saturday night and they had all the windows opened to the outside and this place looks badass from the street. Definitely exceeding my expectations.

@Urbannizer @Triton Please merge this with the East Village topic. Eighty Two was located in the East Village mixed-use development. Lustre Pearl is opening in Eighty Two's former unit.

I believe Eighty Two was where Paradise Palace is.

It's clearly a work in progress. They built spaces up there that could accommodate such activities.

Yeah they do those mini concert things up there that do well (I went to the Beatles one), but hopefully they add something more permanent. You seem to have more faith than me so I’m hoping you’re right.

Oh, hey, cool, they have shaded tables on the roof now, it looks like! Nice, I was just thinking it'd be nice for them to better utilize the space up there.

Now for the weather to not be so hellish so I can go enjoy it! Haha, NOT!

I’ve honestly mostly been disappointed with the rooftop. After going up there once what’s the appeal to go back up there again? There’s really nothing to do but stroll. They could easily replicate the lodge at Bryant Park in NYC up there and that would do wonders.

I think the former Woodshed space in Levy Park is leased or in lease negotiations. An entity was recently filed for Hearsay at Levy Park LLC. Maybe the restaurant is expanding to 3728 Wakeforest Ave?

At present, Hearsay has two locations in downtown Houston and another in The Woodlands.

Was hoping for something a tad bit more casual but good find.

I've come to assume that first tenants in mixed use developments will always be Instagram-forward and pricey. I wish they were more inclusive, but I wouldn't be a very happy person if I couldn't accept that there are places that aren't meant for me.

I'd also care a lot more if there weren't hundreds of other much cheaper, equally bike-accessible, and honestly probably better food options out there for me.

It feels true enough to say that places like this are good for the health of the Houston restaurant ecosystem, and I'm good with that.

Plus it's a cool building, and the benches are free.

Completely agree and that’s where I’m at with it.

I'm really trying hard to like the restaurants at this place, but I just can't.

    Marmo:
Nice happy hour. Appetizers and drinks are good. It's going to cost you after 6pm. Drinks are ridiculously priced if you are drinking anything other than wine.

    Graffiti Raw:
You are spend some $$$ here

    The Chelsea:
Decent wine prices - not sure about liquor. $24 for a burger and appetizers aren't much cheaper.

    Picnik:
Haven't checked it out yet. Looked online and the menu doesn't draw me in.

I wouldn't call these places fines dining either. Much better restaurants you can go for the same price or cheaper. Traffic is going to be horrid on Grant St. with Uchi and these places. I feel bad for the neighbors. Just rip it all up and turn it into a upscale Rainey St.

That's my Montrose is dead rant for the week.

This is a reason why I’m less excited than I use to be when developments like this pop up— there just isn’t much here for me, and I’m tired of being squeezed for every dollar. I will say, they all look like really nice spots as far as ascetics go. I reluctantly spend $9-$10 for 2 scoops of ice cream at Van Luween only because it so good 🤤
