  1. Nope, no giant lady !? My Aunt Janie lived in this neighborhood for about 30-40 years I think. I know she had been there a long time. I spent a couple of Christmas' at her house. She now lives in an Assisted Living Home over off Eldridge. I tried to get her to sell me her house about 5-6 years ago. She wanted more money though than I was willing to pay, so I couldn't blame her, it was worth the money she wanted. Nice neighborhood for Xmas lights also.
  2. Flipper, do you refurbish them ALL the same way ? Just wondering. I like the style, don't get me wrong.
  3. Obviously someone's Grandmother got displaced from this house. I like it alot, but I hate that I would have to change out the wallpaper as soon as I stepped foot in the house. Looks very well kept. It is also in one of the best looking neighborhoods in the city. Spaceage, what mural ? Did someone delete the pic.
  4. The neighborhood isn't soooooo bad. There are alot worse around. Mainly about a mile or two up Antoine. I was driving around there a couple of months ago. The streets around the school are still very nice. Costa Rica Dr. in particular.
  5. Van Clarke, that sounds right for the principal. I don't recall a wacky science teacher though. I remember getting sent to the Principal's office because some other kid had given me a funny looking pink pill, that I hadn't asked for, and the teacher saw it. I didn't get into trouble, but the other kid did.
  6. As a matter of fact, this past Monday Night Football game, it was given a mention by the sports announcers. So, I guess we still claim it.
  7. HnI, I only remeber Ms. Ruth really. She wasn't even my teacher, but all the boys had a crush on her. She was young and hot. Was Mr. Lindsey the principal ?
  8. Daniel, that's the kind of stories I'm looking for. I can remember watching the first shuttle launch in the school auditorium/gym/lunch room. I also remember the whole school watching Ol' Yeller in that auditorium also. As a 5th grader, I won the talent show in 1981 with a ventriliquist act. I remeber my first girlfriend there also, her name was Karen Wehr, you may have gone to school with her brother Wesley.
  9. What year did it turn into a Magnet School. I am almost 100% sure it wasn't when I went there, so I was wondering about that also.
  10. I am looking for anyone who may have gone to Wainwright Elem. on Milwee dr. just off 290 over by Scarborough Highschool. Especially interested if you went there in the late 70's or early 80's. Hoping for some of your memories of this great school. I will start with remembering they always had the best Halloween Carnivals, and the Talent Show every year. Thanks in advance.
  11. Here is a shot I found on Life magazine's website. I found it very interesting as it is INDOORS ! Very cool. http://images.google.com/hosted/life/l?q=m...2778412877af5f0
  12. Insurance will only pay them a couple of times, IF they pay more than once at all. Then where will you be at as a business ?
  13. Well, there have been a couple of instances where the tunnels were a bad thing.
  14. I can still remember my first time going in 1975. There was barely ANYTHING out there, only about 15 acres or so. It has literally grown to 10 times that now, AMAZING. I still have a mini safe that someone had made and was selling there back in the 80's. I have 3 or 4 steins from the 80's as well. I also remember the first year the Ogre appeared, 1980, and the mud eaters was about '81 or so. Lots of great memories of that place.
  15. You know sheeats, the first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem.
  16. I wouldn't go that far, he has a new show. And if art imitates life, then I see why he is the star of this new show. Oh, and it IS real, VERY real.
  17. Told ya Lexus would get the new Supra !!!
  18. I have been to The Bristol several times. I can only vouch for the penthouse condos though. They are top notch, and I am sure the single story flats are almost just as nice.
  19. Most likely give something to the Lexus line insted of Toyota so they can justify the price.
  20. Speaking of Landyachts Red. Josh and I were in his Burple Brute ('08 GMC Denali XL) Friday night. We were on 610 coming back from The Volcano and I was driving. Josh shows me how the new supercharger kicks in on it, and we were doing 110mph from 65mph in what felt like 2 seconds. I felt safe at that speed even with all the Navigation and TVs in it, I will agree with you that flipping upside down would be another matter for me. That is why I like it low and slow in my Beast, which I am supposed to now have back by Tuesday. SIGH!!!
  21. Yes Subdude, if you want HP you sacrifice fuel economy. How were cadillacs getting mid 20 fuel economy in the 80's. Look at the HP compared to today, it was roughly HALF if today's output. How were Hyundais getting 40 mpg back then ? 80hp engine does surprising well on gas as opposed to 120hp, that is why you only get 30 mpg now. Red, I'll prove your data about smart cars wrong. We'll go rent an Expedition and a smart car. We will take out the full coverage insurance on both. We will then take turns smashing into each other in our own little side impact test, at say 50mph ? I will even let you go first with you driving in your smart car.
  22. 1) I was here 2) I saw the sesquicentennial ( the 150 year period from 1836 to 1986) from my backyard on Burnet Bay in Brownwood and saw the fireworks display over the San Jac Monument. 3) Jean Jarre, is the composer who organized the whole rooftop thing over Houston's Skyline that year.
  23. Baker Street Pub has some pretty decent "TALENT" in it depending on what night and what time you go. Oh, and they have Bud Light Lime for ME !!!
  24. Chacon wanted to be traded rather than be benched. What's the easiest ticket out of town ? Attack the guy that signs your paycheck.
