  1. Yes, Regent Square in the NE is for more of a Suburban environment. I know they want walkable and all of that but they will have plenty of parking and cater to a different group of people. East River will be a destination for people from downtown. It will be geared to a different audience. Thats why i believe that each site will develop differently and in parallel.
  2. Both of these will develop in parallel. They are similar but have different pulls for campuses. Suburban vs Urban
  3. According to Houston's plan... they want to do an underpass for Runnels to downtown.
  4. Great plan and maybe something that didnt pop out at first. Runnels will be an underpass to downtown.
  5. Heard that this will be starting by the end of this year. Thanks 5th Warders for sharing!
  6. Never saw the video on this. Also, no news since May. Anyone know if this is going anywhere?
  7. https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/nation-now/2017/10/13/most-liveable-americas-50-best-cities-live/761013001/
  8. There are too many large open spaces for a grocer to move into: - Navigation and Jensen - East River - Waco and Navigation I dont think a grocer would want to move into a historic building when they could build a whole new one.
  9. I dont know if this will take you to the link directly but its is telling that they will be demoing the exsiting moving / storage company if they move from west to east. ftp://edrc.houstontx.gov/2018/Applications//2018-1450/SubdivisionPlatPDF_EastRiverSection1.pdf
  10. Harvard did this for their East End study. Be careful what you wish for. It was a very large lady yelling at her kids. Looked like something out of a ghetto walmart.
  11. East River Sec 1 2018-1450 07/09/2018 Class 3 subdivision preliminary replat This tells us what?
  12. Yes, there is a lot more politics in play here than "just build it already". You will have TIRZ 18 and 23 at play and TIRZ 18 has a long history of not helping developers. Instead they may redistribute the funds from this property back to Lyons Avenue where the board members investments are. ("SHEEEEEIIIIIIIIIIITTTTT" - The Wire on HBO) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=70eU840lc38 It's strange how many entities are zoned in this property: - TIRZ 18 - TIRZ 23 - East End Management District
  13. That idea has been around for a while. The new thing on this brochure is the visuals that they have provided on what the buildings will look like on the site.
  14. East End Management District has a proposed street car connecting this neighborhood with Eado and Navigation. Would be a huge game changer.
  15. New brochure that shows cool looking model shot of the bayou and buildings http://eastriverhtx.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/180709-EastRiver_brochure_FINAL2.pdf
  16. So have we established a metric for what amount of rainfall equals a flooded park and trails? How often do these occur? What is our expense to repair these damages? At this rate, all of the East End project money will be spent providing maintenance to the twice a year flooded west side.
  17. Midway meeting with locals in 5th ward to discuss the East River property this past week at The New Potato.
  18. Quit taking advantage of drunks Tumbleweed! lol Its interesting too see the land that Midways owns and how that will be developed vs the land that Cathexsis owns and how that is developing.
  19. The Bar across the street (The New Potato) loves this lot and maintains a very good relationship with Midway. The owner is a guy named Paul and they built the bar with the plan to establish an early footprint in this area. Best hidden bar in town!
  20. There is a Notice of Special Exception Request on the property. "To allow local streets to have reduced right of way width and To allow reduced block Lengths along Major Thoroughfares."
  21. Why get light rail when you can have a Gondola to Downtown? Hopefully plans are released soon. They have been suspiciously quiet lately. If you ever need an update on what is going on, you just need to go to The New Potato across the street from the site. The owner Paul can fill you in.
  22. Also, this might have more legs considering that it is located withing the TIRZ 10 zoning.
  23. This would be amazing but there are really only 2 places for a 200 acre development like this in Houston. East River or this place.
  24. So apparently they purchased the land from McCord Development and they will be building a distribution center. This kind of is a let down considering it may only bring ~200 full time jobs to the area. But its still a big name in a growing area.
