    I think i head that previously they had develop a team to do a study on where retail would be great for downtown and if i am correct it was withing the intersecions of Main and Dallas or within that area.

    Exactly! Some people are making a big deal about the oil prices, does it matter? Yes in a way but not like it used to. We have now other areas that keep Houston going such as the medical field(obvious) and technology to name a few.

    You gotta love their approach and maybe they believe in Houston's economy in many different sectors not just oil.

    Modern interpretation of european style? hum... what part of europe I been to Paris and don't remember seeing anything similar to this or is Paris different then any where else in Europe?

    Very weak, let's see how the other hotel comes out to be by the convention center.

    We all know we are going to live with it but i believe that 99 percent of the people prefer the old design but yes it just keeps getting shorter in the next couple of weeks it will probably get to 18 floors.

    i hope that move doesn't happen and i hope it does go through with the new look it looks ugly and dirty in my opinion.

    I think we all agree that we live in an amazing city and we understand and agree that we have many more buildings then any other city in the nation aside NYC. We have a few unique buildings in downtown must most are typical box looking type with nothing " unique". My opinion is we need to be more unique or should I say some of these developers need to take consideration that some more detailing should be taking into consideration but hey i guess it's not my money. I think most of us feel that we need to be more unique specially with our downtown area, we just love Houston so much we all have many opinions.

    I hope they are still not considering it saying its a luxury hotel, thank God for the JW Marriott.

    Don't they still have some trailers on this location since the last time when construction was just about to begin for the hotel?

    I think the new convention hotel will have a bigger splash and the probably that other new hotel planned next to it as well. I think what would make this one a splash is just the fact that greenstreet will be attach to it.

    I hate to say this does Dallas downtown does pop out more specially at night it looks more alive and we at night look like ehh.. our medical center looks more like it should be our downtown. We are the 4th largest city, the energy capital of the world, space city, we have have a unique history and multi cultural city but we come up with this, sorry it's my opinion.

    That's another thing some of these buildings and their roof have no character nothing to say wow different, i love my city and everything but our buildings specially at night have no character in my opinion nothing that at least pops out just white lines of light (for crowns) if those other older buildings like 712 main were just taller to stand out to make it a bit more unique but i am no expert.

    WOW!!! What a bust!!! Do not even bother building it they can save their money by not even building the thing. Business is business but wow it went from game changer to a bust.

    I drive through this every day but on the freeway on 45 going south and looks like a base of the crane is already on place and there was some pouring on cement the day before will try to take a pic.
