  1. The other segments are supposed to open this year sometime.
  2. I love the new design - can't wait to relax by the rooftop Texas-shaped pool with a margarita when this thing finishes. Also looking at the old photo - I could not imagine walking across that sea of parking lots to get to work in the middle of a Texas summer - I would need a shower once I got to the office.
  3. Wine and whiskey bar confirmed for 3Q 2014: http://houston.culturemap.com/news/restaurants-bars/05-20-14-houstons-most-innovative-restaurant-chef-is-opening-up-his-own-bar-in-a-historic-downtown-spot/
  4. Awesome, can't wait till they start the cladding on the lower floors.
  5. This building is going to be a fantastic addition to the area. Can't wait.
  6. Based on the renderings, I'm speculating it will stay a grey color but won't be as prominent since they will be putting up glass railings on the balconies:
  7. Found a way to save them, here are the pics ( source http://www.booking.com/hotel/us/eight-zero-six-main-street-houston-downtown.en-gb.html ) :
  8. Scroll through for renderings of some of the interior areas: http://www.booking.com/hotel/us/eight-zero-six-main-street-houston-downtown.en-gb.html I think it looks good - simple and classic.
  9. Culturemap reporting a new bar or restaurant coming in (rumored to be the Oxheart duo): http://houston.culturemap.com/news/restaurants-bars/04-03-14-rumors-are-swirling-that-new-downtown-bar-will-reunite-oxheart-duo/
  10. http://www.jonescarter.com/projects/landdevelopment/HardyYards.html Not sure how current this is.
  11. I've been wondering how long they'll leave that hole in the wall open.
  12. Don't overlook the fact that the first floor garage and limited first floor windows adds to security at the expense of "attractiveness" - a trade off that many would take.
  13. When I saw this new thread I had a glimmer of hope they were going to do something with this building. I think this one is beyond renovation. Similar to someone's comment above, I was driving down main the other day with a friend and they were shocked the Sears was actually functioning.
  14. Reminds me of playing in a sandbox when I was a kid:
  15. Went running on these trails at night earlier this week, the lights make a huge difference and they look great - and yes there's blue under the police memorial bridge, and now there's a sort of bright LED type lighting under memorial drive between the police memorial and the montrose bridge area.
  16. I've noticed this too - parking can be a disaster, especially on the weekends. Would have been nice to put in an underground garage under the new centennial gardens, similar to the garage under discovery green. Once the gardens are finished it should open the parking back up to where people can street park in the neighborhood to the north and the walk over won't be as far. Part of the problem is people are generally more willing to drive around for 20+ minutes for a parking spot rather than park slightly farther away and walk an extra 1/4 of a mile.
  17. I'd be very surprised if this is an actual rendering, considering it looks like it was done with MS paint.
  18. Looks great, wish we could bury part of 59 to connect EADO and this area.
  19. Much of the original top detail was lost when the additional floors were added to the first incarnation of the building. As far as the loss of detail between the original and final renderings, the new version is simpler but I still think it will look good.
