  1. Okay so I was told not to share the rendering right now (sorry guys), but I can share information on this. Chelsea Montrose is a 303-unit, 20-story high-rise. It reminds me of The Museum Tower (no, not the one in Dallas), so most of you will think it's average. The high-rise will be approx. ~250' ft tall.

There are still a few hurdles to get through, but construction crews should be on-site next month and demolition should begin in Feb/March. This project will take 2 - 2 1/2 years to complete. I dunno if the residents nearby know anything about this, but the developer says they will do everything they can to minimize the inconveniences of construction to the community.

Sounds like a very aesthetic block.

  2. When one steps back and take an analytic perspective on the holistic view, we can see this was coming. I'm sorry to say that this tower will never break ground. Neither will several others - looks at Chevron - because, we already know deep inside that their forecasts and analysts can see and predict what we all know - We are overbuilding in certain submarkets and the population of talent is following a certain trend that may be unique to Houston.

While that the last idea may or may not be true, I do believe it will be more than difficult for resident Houstonians to pull themselves from the idea that this cityis more than halfway through its peak and that the entire energy sectror is retreating. That is downsizing. Why? Because we all know - at least us Houstonians - that hydrocarbons are becoming ever cheaper and cheaper the better and better we get at hydraulic fracturing.

So. As a recently arrived Houstonian (from the other side of THIS planet)... I plead to you... let us hope that this project will indeed get off the ground. Because if it does not, then the forecasters are right... and Houston is about to enter a very dismal stage. Something I do NOT want to happen as my family and I have just move here... being uprooted from the other hemisphere.

Thank you for you reading my thoughts fellow forumers.

  3. If they're going to be up there at 800+ feet, may as well really create a stir by the ornamental top to make it the city's tallest!  Maybe something like this building from China, but with the Chevron logo projected onto it (like how Continental used to do)

Would the sloped cantilever look like a muted version of this?  Maybe without the fat base?

I am not sure modeling a Houston tower after one in China would be a good thing. I say this in consideration of the subpar standards of quality they appear to embrace.

  4. H-Town Man your story of the Chevron CEO telling you of the construction in a secret location in the Arctic, then flying the building in to Houston is totally believable. However, I gotta call BS on the playing golf this morning part. There's no way you could have made it to the golf course........ with all the traffic and all.

I find this, if not sarcastic, then totally unreasonable.

  5. Well from the east side. I don't think any rendering has showed us how this crown will look from that angle. Basically I'm talking about viewing this from like Minute Maid Park or the BBVA Compass Stadium.

I do believe that is more of a southeast view.
