  1. Yeah, that's my beef though. I don't see how they have the space to build the new building and preserve the existing America's restaurant which is located on the NW corner. It should be interesting. Oh, and the story said the Wulfe himself mentioned the October 1st date. I went to a Metro presentation over a year ago and the plan then was to begin with BRT down Post Oak and then when ridership allowed, they'd add rail to the BRT lanes. I agree 100% that this area, more than any other, needs a subway or elevated rail not street level. I've only they'd spend the money for a measly 2 miles down Post Oak.
  2. Once again, October 1st is one week away. I just don't see how they can start building anything at that site in the next week. America's is still open and using their parking lot for guests. In order to build a new 70,000 retail building at the NW corner of Post Oak and Ambassador's Way, they'll surely have to close down America's to do it and I see no sign of that happening yet. Hopefully I'm wrong.
  3. Sad news is that McKinney tore his ACL and is out for the year
  4. That's awesome news!!! I'm confused though, Americas is already located on the southern portion of this site in the Pavilion center. How are they going to tear it down to build a new 70000 sq ft spot and not tear down the Pavilion? Will they tear down the back portion of the Pavilion but not the front? Also, I did notice yesterday that there is a new sign in front of America's facing the Stewart Title Post Oak Central building that is a construction notification. It's all starting!!! I can't believe it'll break ground next month.
  5. It looks like they're done with the garage? Is that true?
  6. He had enough sense to realize it was a bad business move after he dissed his Houston fans and bolted to the comforts ($$$) of NYC.
  7. Double Dave's is actually College Station-style. Pep'roni rolls were born in BCS just like Freebirds
  8. No doubt, and he's not a new coach, it's his second year. News Flash: Kubiak is an Aggie also.
  9. There is a Sarnoff article in the Sunday Chronicle business about McDonald's making a deal with Randall Davis for another 26 story condo. It sounds very similar to the deal he made with JCI down the street for the Cosmopolitan.
  10. No, but I heard that Arlington is willing to pass a law changing their name to "Darlington" so Jerry never has a problem with his "D" again.
  11. I like the new floor as well. It does look more classic and I like the lighter stained wood inside the 3 point line.
  12. I definitely like the idea of a mini city inside the dome. It all seems very futuristic and I think it will draw tourists. It will be much like the Gaylord in Grapevine but with everything under one huge roof instead of just part of it. I think being in the dome will make it feel more like an open, outdoor space than an indoor mall or the Galleria does. The ceiling will be 18 floors above the floor of the development, you shouldn't feel enclosed. Plus, being indoors, you take out the seasonal travel effect out of the equation. You don't have to worry about too much heat in the summer or too much cold in the winter. The pools can be open year-round and you never have to worry about getting your vacation rained out. I like it a lot.
  13. I'm pretty sure the idea is to have the hotel rooms all be interior to the dome. Therefore, the views would be of the indoor facilities, pools, ponds, shops, restaurants (i.e., the mini city). I don't think the plans include any views outside the dome. What's there to look at anyhow? The Reliant parking lot...
  14. That should be interesting. Chipotle has opened locations at Sugar Land Town Square and Market Street, I wonder if they'll open at La Centerra also and compete with Mission?
  15. It appears he's got his eye keenly on both vantage points. He did pink slip our Skipper and GM this week.
  16. I firmly believe the Rockets have had the best offseason in the NBA next to the Celtics. However, I really wish we could've dumped Rafer a month ago. We could have at least gotten a pick or 2, now his value is in the toilet.
  17. Don't ever buy from Fingers. They have horrible delivery practices which almost border on fraud. I can't tell you how many times I was lied to by employees all the way up the chain of command when trying to get some furniture delivered. Furniture that I have financed through them. It took forever, they missed delivery dates, they'd call and say we're coming this afternoon then never show and never call. It was absolutely horrendous. I tell everyone I can not to buy from Fingers.
  18. UPDATED 8/1/2007: It looks like a lot of the Coming Soon stores/restaurants are now opening. With the news of Minute Maid moving into Town Square, this development is really taking off. It's great to see an urban, pedestrian-friendly development work in the Houston Metro. Now Open: Mi Luna (corner of garage near Town Center Blvd.) Dessert Gallery (near Chipotle) Jimmy Johns (next to Chipotle) Amici (across from the Square and Marriott) Johnny Rockets (across from Baker Street Pub) Kiss Kiss (across from Baker Street Pub) Learning Express (across from Baker Street Pub) The Right Start (near Chipotle) Sweet and Sassy (Libby Lu on steroids) Tacone Flavor Grill (first floor of garage, across from future high-rise condo building) Motherhood Maternity (near Sharper Image) Hemline of New Orleans (across from Baker Street Pub) Just Add Water (next to Johnny Rockets) Coming Soon: Relax the Back (next to Jamba Juice) Strasburg Children Christopher's Vintage Shave (between Tacone and Mi Luna) Cigar Cigar (near Mi Luna)
  19. The Cosmopolitan Condo building has been topped off. The tree is sitting on top, we have 17 residential floors and 5 garage floors for a total of 22 floors.
  20. News Flash: Stevie Franchise is back! Of course he won't be starting this time and won't be called "Franchise" any more, but hey, he should be a good addition as a veteran coming off the bench. Hopefully, he'll provide that spark we need along with Bonzi. Lord knows Luther Head can't do it.
  21. Here is an updated construction photo from this morning. 15th residential floor under construction.
