  1. You might be pleasantly surprised driving in from 45 North. I think it's going to stand out almost as much as the Hess Tower and help fill the gap between it and the Marriott Marquis. Great use of the small plot of land they have to work with.
  2. Love the reflections of the other buildings in all these pics...very nice!
  3. 453' according to Emporis https://www.emporis.com/city/101031/houston-tx-usa/status/all-buildings/4
  4. That's awesome...congrats! The Transco Tower is like Houston's compass to me...when I see it, I know I'm close to home. I grew up in Kingwood, and had been downtown and the Astrodome/AstroWorld area several times, but never really knew about the galleria area until I was about 12 or so. It seemed so much more vibrant at the time (late 80's/early 90's). I knew that everything I need would be close, and all the restaurants gave me so many options. Back then though, downtown was a dead zone. I love where I'm at, and it's perfect for me location wise...but I'd actually rather live between downtown and the Museum District these days.
  5. This will fill the gap in this area if it goes forward, no doubt...as would the Chevron Tower for that part of downtown had it been built.
  6. I actually like the older rendering that looked more like a few 20-35 story towers. It had a better design IMO, but it stayed in its lane. One thing I love about the Transco/Williams tower is how it stands alone. It's so dominating. It's such a beautiful and defining building for the area. Its presence is complimented so well by its design. I'll never forget the impact it had on me the first time my dad drove us by it when I was a kid, and as we went down Westheimer, I remember thinking "this is where I want to live when I grow up." And sure enough, here I am to this day. This would be a nice building in another part of town (Upper Kirby area comes to mind), but it would at least somewhat diminish that commanding presence of the Transco/Williams tower moving forward. Although we've all seen worse (looking at you right up the street, Mercer), this design is nothing special.
  7. As much as I love this tower and the view it's going to have from Minute Maid Park, I'm really gonna miss the view of 609 Main coming in from 45 North. Not a bad replacement, but still...
  8. It will be about as tall as the Hess Tower, and the view coming in from 45 North will be extended northward from the Hess Tower. It'll definitely fill a void from that angle.
  9. Maybe if we stare at the circles long enough, we'll "feel" connected to the area
  10. For reference, 23 miles of the widest freeway in the world (the Katy Freeway) was built in less time than that. I don't see how they get away with these kinds of time frames, tbh. This is one of the busiest intersections in North America. I mean...wtf?
  11. About eight or nine years ago, my mom came here from VA with her friend, who to my understanding had never left the Richmond, VA area his whole life (I think he's around 75 years old). My mom used to live here, so she knew about our multiple skylines, but I just remember that they stayed at the LaQuinta Inn on 610 near what is now the Amegy Bank building, and we were about to go to Ninfa's on Navigation. I remember her friend asking where it was, and when I told him it was near downtown, he looked around at all the buildings in the Galleria area and said "this isn't downtown??"
  12. Also noticed that with the Medistar Tower that's planned next to the new Intercontinental/Latitude development.
  13. Thanks for the update, Urbannizer...looks great. I wonder if there's anything substantive (yet) to that taller building in the background of the 3rd picture?
  14. Great shot, ekdrm2d1...thanks for all the great updates and Happy New Year!
  15. OMG we could go on for days on this... The Castlewood The Synott The Blue Bell The Woodforest The Hammerly
  16. The way Wikipedia worded it was "The JPMorgan Chase Tower, formerly Texas Commerce Tower, is a 305.4-meter (1,002-foot), 2,243,013-square-foot (208,382.7 m2),[3] 75-story skyscraper at 600 Travis Street in Downtown Houston, Texas, United States." Sounds about right for Wikipedia.
  17. According to Hines, yes. https://www.hines.com/properties/jpmorgan-chase-tower-houston
