  1. I’ve actually been in their building, Inmar HQ, in Winston-Salem, and it is one of the nicest developments I have seen. Very well done. It is no Zaha Hadid, but that would look out of place here.
  2. I agree with this. This development reminds of University Village in Seattle, WA. It is very walkable and popular, even though it has a large parking lot in front of the grocery store. I can definitely see this lot becoming a parking garage in the future if the development becomes a huge success, but I like this project from the look of it so far.
  3. Although I agree that this is awful news, a parking garage like the Lyric Center one would not be bad. We will just have to wait to see what the renderings look like. Cant believe that building was torn down for that though
  4. We on the same page literally was so excited when I saw the news
  5. So, Culberson just lost... so y’all think this will have an effect on rail in Houston?
  6. Indeed!! Excited for more park land!!
  7. It is more than just a vision. I would say it is basically a close to done deal. When I suggested the cap park between Midtown/Third Ward, they responded that it is harder there because there aren’t any large companies making donations similar to the EaDo cap. That to me sounded like the cap park idea has received lots of investment from companies in Downtown. Also, they mentioned that the first phase of the project will be downtown because that is where the heaviest traffic is, and their goal is to finish construction 2026 for the downtown section. Northern sections will come later
  8. I was there too and the projects looked amazing! The only part I felt is forgotten is the Third Ward/Midtown area. I don’t feel that pretty bridges are enough to connect two neighborhoods. I suggested another cap park in that area.
  9. I disliked the old one so much!! The new one is a lot better. The problem with the old design is that in 5 years it will look outdated. I have seen spherical buildings like that before and I always think they look old. The new one, although not different from other buildings, will still look nice come 10-15 years. Just my opinion.
  10. They will come. All these food halls will become the key tenants of the downtown mall (similar to what department stores are now... which are slowly disappearing) so these food halls will anchor the stores. I like where we are going with the food halls
  11. That’s how it is in Seattle. The light rail they have there goes from the airport to downtown, and the train goes through a long stretch alongside the freeway very quickly, but once you get close to downtown, it has more stations and it slows down considerably even though it is a lot shorter distance wise.
  12. We don’t have to tear down and rebuild... look at Fenway and Wrigley. I’m hoping Minute Maid becomes like those historic stadiums one day.
  13. Renderings of Jones Plaza from today’s announcement.
  14. I like it too... it might not be as cohesive, but it’s interesting to look at. Too much cohesion makes a building boring in my opinion. I do like Aris a lot more than this though, but I don’t think this is ugly
  15. Yeah I was gonna say that I’m actually a big fan of the design! It’s simple, clean, and fits in with the district.
  16. Don’t forget we have a professional soccer team with legends like Brian Ching and Brad Davis
  17. Looks amazing! I loved how they’re saving the ballroom!
  18. Haha yeah it was just a joke! Loving what is happening in Midtown!
  19. Yeah the amount of growth that Seattle is having is insane! I guess that happens when you have the two richest men in the world living in one city, with enormous amounts of high paying jobs
  20. Hey cool, I live in Seattle! What did you think of my adopted home compared to the city we love, Houston?
