  1. Thanks Classic. How are you involved with the Foundation/Center?
  2. Let's hope the Aga Khan foundation is equally as accepting as we like to consider our city to be...
  3. I saw them headed north on Crawford, later that day. I assumed that they were "Headed" (in case you missed it the first time), back to David Adicks storage yard on Nance, but maybe they hit the road instead.
  4. It's a relief to see that there is still some good taste left in Houston restaurants scene.
  5. Dude. Move up or down the street a little. It's just right there. GREAT drone pics, btw. Keep 'em coming. Happy New Year!
  6. Gave up on @Nextdoor a couple years ago. Tends to make you dislike your neighbors and encourages people to be suspicious of one another. It's a terrible platform IMO.
  7. I have no doubt that the airline will survive. It is just the best travel option for too many people. But, there reputation with the public and as much so, with their employees is now very damaged. Now, even, management realizes it. Southwest still is a unique product in the industry and (most) people & businesses will continue to purchase the fare and schedule that makes the best financial sense to them, at the time. Much of the flying public will always search and pay for the lowest fares they can find, regardless of the service that get. Aside from the Managerial breakdown, SWA is still staffed by a lot of great people that bring a lot of great energy to the Product. Hopefully, management invests in them so that they can remake the airline what it once was.
  8. Andes Cafe is such a beautiful, intimate well appointed space, just off of the visual craziness of the food hall. And you're correct about the ceviche!
  9. There is a $hit ton of properties across from ER. Which is this?
  10. I really don't see that East River is competing with downtown or will detract from downtown. It close, but it is separate. It's not like Eado, which operates almost in unison, or perhaps competes with downtown, in terms of nightlife. Transportation and road connections are awkward, especially when there is a Game or Match, or Event at any of the stadiums Convention Center or Arena which separate the districts. Becoming connected to surrounding areas is something that East River will have to overcome to allure folks from more than a mile away. But, it is building off of a lot of energy in the area and will have enough to it, to make it stand alone...and, I believe, that it will have a unique vibe due to its location on the River/Bayou and it will be connected directly with Jensen Street Bridge and a pedestrian bridge at Gregg, to Navigation, which will be symbiotic. It does appear that Midway is struggling a bit to confirm tenants, but perhaps this is an opening for smaller, more localized businesses, retailers and restaurateurs to get into a quality development that they otherwise would not be able to manage, and create a more unique, interesting district. The last thing that I would want is the same list of chain restaurants and shops that exist at City Center to occupy ER. I just wouldn't go very often.
  11. I agree. Certainly would not require as much traffic as a full service grocery. My understanding, however, is that TJ's has very strict demographic requirement for their locations. That's not to say, that one of their stores would not be well received and utilized here...it would.
  12. The location can be a challenge to get to from downtown, Eado and East and 5th Ward, due to multiple & Problematic rail crossings, lack of direct streets. If your coming West from I-10, from east down Navigation or Clinton, or down Jensen your good. From elsewhere (where most of the money is)...I just gets complicated. In the end, I just don't think that the demographics/average income levels are there yet...especially to justify a full scale HEB. It's all changing, and lots of roof tops are under construction or planned...connectivity issues are supposedly being addressed...but, for now, we wait. I hope not for much longer. I want it as much as anyone.
  13. I live just off of Clinton (at Sydnor) and the sewer does often vent at a specific place on Clinton. It's from the manhole on the street, over the Main Sewer line, that you can see just at the lower left hand corner of Hindesky's last photo. It's a problem. The building pad in the photo is for Midway's East River offices, I believe. I bet that they will ask the city to address the sewer gas issue. It'll be a marketing problem.
  14. It’s all just so tacky. I mean…the room needs something…but and hand painted statue of Zeus!?
  15. I’m excited to see this building being built. Sure it’s unusual but it’ll be iconic for sure. Another reason to be excited for Austin. blue dogs: “but the homeless”
  16. Great for Austin. Exciting times for the city continue…
  17. Wow! If developers can crack the code, figure out how to make these buildings desirable, affordable, appealing to tenants, as well as competitive with buildings that were built to be lived in, it will be amazing for the future of downtown neighborhoods.
  18. I've known Bill Douglas my whole life. What a gentleman and a great fisherman. Visited with him this summer in Jamaica Beach, where he has retired.
  19. What’s the read on this change? Seems that Midway is adding about 1/3 more parking, or have just shifted the other half, of the unfinished parking structure, to where building H is. It adds retail frontage to Meadow Street. It’s all curious to me.
