GOP has indicated that Houston will be hosting the RNC in 2028. Wonder what that party will look like by then.

Meanwhile...the "steel wheel trolleys" have resumed service on the island and they look great! -
The Allen: Mixed-Use Development At Allen Parkway & Gillette St.
Naviguessor replied to jmontrose's topic in Going Up!
https://eosfitness.com/location/houston-gillette-st-allen-pkwy/ They will always take new members. They had some great introductory pricing. The initial buildout was to Equinox Specs...So, it's actually very nice! Better than the other Texan's Fitness branches that they acquired.- 1,647 replies

This would be a good time to talk, again, about the color of the Bayou.

Reading some headlines that Port of Houston will be building their building with East River. This is very good and interesting news. I feel that ER needs some good news in their tenant list.

38-Story High-Rise & Office Building At 2811 Kirby Dr.
Naviguessor replied to Highrise Tower's topic in Going Up!
THAT building would fit right right in on the West Loop, with several others which resemble it but, on Kirby? I don’t see it. I’ll wait to see a rendering of the actual building to decide if it’ll work for me. This one doesn’t do it for me. That little disingenuous Randal Davis deco flourish, is off putting.- 135 replies

Texas Medical Center Hotel Market

Your quote. It was careless and very much misrepresents and disparages a very fine non-profit, doing great things. You could retract it.- 8 replies

Texas Medical Center Hotel Market
Naviguessor replied to Highrise Tower's topic in Texas Medical Center
Is that what extended stay hotels do? Provide sick children and their families, free accommodation, meals, support services, transportation and a community? Guess it’s me who misunderstands what extended stay hotels do. My bad.- 8 replies

Cannot say that I’m excited to see a hotel set right in the middle of all the bars that like to visit. But, the design concept certainly could be worse. It’s not as if the developer was trying to squeeze in a Holiday Inn Express. Location notwithstanding, I like the design.

Jensen And Navigation Blvd. Roundabout
Naviguessor replied to Mr.Clean19's topic in Traffic and Transportation
One of those "I'll believe it when I see it" projects. There has been a lot of fiber optic infrastructure work going on the the neighborhoods around here. Our Sidewalks are pretty torn up still, and the streetscape is a mess as a result. Waiting for the contractors to come backs are repair the sidewalks...but, It's taking a long damn time. I do hope that this is a sign that the roundabout is a "go" though. -
Coloring the bayou would make us a punch line of every late night comic and a laughing stock for years to come.

^^ Why wouldn't they!? These are professionals doing this. So, trust that they will make good and informed decisions. Also, probably doesn't make sense to pay overtime to get a park done early. Remember reading the same type of concerns when the Memorial Park tunnels were under construction and some contributors here were hoping that the designers there thought about details like, protecting pedestrians from falling onto the roadway from above.

Have your party(or RideShare) meet you at the Marriott Hotel. So much better that way...

It's just a bit naive to think the Harris, Houston and Federal Governments would move hundreds hundreds of jail beds, a recently open Joint Processing facility and other infrastructure, away from the courts complex across the bayou. Not even worth thinking about.

This could either be a lot of fun, or could be a big problem for many parties. I wonder what the developers concept actually is.

Port Of Galveston Developments
Naviguessor replied to J.A.S.O.N.'s topic in Galveston and the Gulf Islands
This is a huge deal for the Island, The Port and the cruise industry in Galveston. Equally big for the island and port of the improvements for the Westport Cargo Complex, also, discussed in the article. Galveston has become The Hub for for Wind Turbine imports and transportation and with likely offshore Wind farms, this will only increase revenues and employment for the island. -
It is a very transformative and interesting project...you would think that the local paper would notice. But, am I surprised...? na
