I have never understood with a city as car dominated as Houston why we allow parking lots instead of parking towers... Parking lots just seem like a money grab .. limited space creates demand which allows you to charge absurd prices. For these companies it a win/win .. parking lot means I can charge asburb amount, if a company want to by the lot to build a building , they have to buy me out. I can point to how much money I make having it as a lot to force them to have to offer me alot more money for it

Thought they would have gone for the post oak area

You know who should by it that company trying to creaete high speed rail to Houston and dallas

It's difficult to say what development was "encouraged" by the light rail and what developments occurred in the inner loop simply because land value has been so high. Businesses closing due to the light rail would be easier to guess at.
are you could list the number of projects that have sighted the rail as why they are developing there.
-
And there it is the reason they put it on hold.

I am glad to see the infill ,but I agree with someone who said that these self contained designs, no not add to a sense of urban.. If the court yard entrance opend up onto main streert that would have gone a long way
-
they have frozen all projects in place , except for the mid land one( not just Houston but varies other cities) but
They are still going thu with employee tranfers to Houston, and stated they are still bulking of their employee work force in Houston, so the tranfers are still happening.
what it sounds like to me is that they may have signed a tenet deal with one of the new towers planned. Why else would they freeze the building , but state they will go ahead witht he employee transfers -
the last update which was just over a month ago, confirmed that the project is still in-development.
"After the Hines announcement, Stream said the company is “still excited” about its project and is “working on it;” however it was not ready to announce anything."
You are right the Nov 19 plan from the city still list this project and we knew hines was going thu with their plans in aug
-
Not any information on 46-story International Tower. It seems it is cancelled since Hines is moving along.
What does hines have to do wit their plans, they knew going in they would be going up against two other buildings.

They are building this thing super slow....nearly a month with barely any changes.
Didnt this thing start before sky house ??? Long before ??? and skyhouse has already started adding glass

I could see ground floor retail working in this area.. You have a area that is vastly under served ? How many people work in ST. joesph? That have limited dinning options outside of having to get in their car and go to papas ? If they line the bottom with places to eat they coudl conner the south Houston market (well give people on that side more than papas anyway
-
Well i am happy to see it grow...6 more restraunts ? Do we really need that many downtown is not lacking in those..retail is were it hurts the most..still according to the map they still have plenty of space left so we stilk can hope

Bad News Bar is the second floor of 300 Main with balcony. I heard that Trigger Happy will be in the same building but a different floor.
That 304..... 300 main is that big vacant one that sits on the corner just before Okra

Also: Captain Foxheart's Bad News Bar and Spirit Lounge which is my favorite bar on the block. There's still a few to come: El Big Bad is opening in November, Trigger Happy, a beer bar, is under development and there is an unnamed concept at the northeast corner of the block in a large space.
is that 300 main, because I noticed a few weeks ago there were some guys who seemed to be working on that balcony like thing, then not to long after that they papered up the windows
-
No one was challeage you..just saying he is good about running these things down before posting

So this is the second building that will have a open air access point to the tunnels ? I am glad to see some of these building getting on board with the city attempt to open the tunnels up to the street level.

The downtown Houston Macy's was profitable. They closed the store because the land got sold from underneath it. That said, it wasn't a stellar profit, but it did make money.
Then why was this downtown property one of five other downtown macy closing???
-
wait ,wait wait what moron though cover up such fine deco was a good idea ??? I never knew such a nice building was there. time to tear that crap off, reonovate and create some nice apts.. its stupid crap like this that makes me wish I was rich so I could just buy the damn thing myself and do it
