A friend of mine actually has a photo of the "Houston Proud Express" taken at Hobby. Here's a link.

I flew on the Continental ATR-42 out of Hobby to IAH several times as well as the Embrear 120 out of EFD to IAH. The terminal at EFD looked like two mobile homes stuck together. Years before this there was a dedicated Continental DC9 that flew from HOU to IAH called Houston Proud I believe. There should be some pictures on the web. While we are here, anyone remember the old Clear Lake metro port? Metro Airlines Twin Otter service to IAH?

Nice touch with the outdoor seating.

Sort of like a lemming?Hipsterhip-sturn. One who possesses tastes, social attitudes, and opinions deemed cool by the cool. The Hipster walks among the masses in daily life but is not a part of them and shuns or reduces to kitsch anything held dear by the mainstream. A Hipster ideally possesses no more than 2% body fat.

Thanks Gary! This is going to be really nice infill. Andrew, those are very good pics. -
I'm guessing you we're trying to make an example here with UA/WN? I guess one thing I could take from this is that Hobby would be somewhat safe from a situation like EY/EK/QR taking the wind out HOU's international sails. All the network airlines including in Europe have the biggest threat from Emirates, Qatar, and Ethiad Airlines. Their government pays for their fuel, which give them an advantage. Delta last year spent 8 billion dollars on fuel, their highest cost. Lufthansa Airlines is protesting Emirates wants more slots at the new Berlin Airport because they will not give LH more slots at Dubai. WN does not even compare to these airlines in the middle east. That is a whole different page they are still considered the cattle car. You can find more information on flyertalk.com if you are a frequent flyer. -
Thanks everyone for all the likes and comments (the South Park was classic)! I got a few more shots from last night as well but this one was probably the best overview for the topic. This whole area is poised to go through a big change, hopefully for the better.

They should only preserve the frame and put a nice artificial park with pond and all (all already suggested) but add LEDs to the the frame and lights to have the same effect the Eiffel Tower has. Every hour a light display, twinkling, etc.[/quote ]
Then it could become our Coliseum and eventually Yanni might play there... Or was that the Acropolis?

Like Southwest, I really hope Houston ups its investment in Hobby infrastructure such as the parking lot, pax arrival/departure lanes, freeway connectors directly to the airport and even buying up some of the adjacent land and extending 12L.

Or at least one of the terminal busses... "Perry Ferry"?I remember his critics called him "Out of Town Brown". Going out of town via the out of town Brown terminal, heh, that's funny.
That's hilarious. In the same vein, Austin should name one of it's terminals after Perry.

I always address it as Intercontinental as that's what it was always called most of my life.

While I see the benefit of both sides, I must point out that my wife and I live downtown and spend on average $3500.00 a month eating out. Albeit, probably less than $500.00 is spent in the downtown area. However, with more new restaurants opening, we are starting to walk to dinner a little more.Phoenicia needs to sell food too. Also you might be surprised how much we downtown yuppies eat out. I'm really lazy.

What happened to their door? The windows are still boarded up at Macondo.
Did they replace the door at Hearsay?

It had a little "Raising Arizona" feel to it.
