  1. Get your bids in by tomorrow for the Esperson Building... https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/808-Travis-Street-815-Walker-Street-Houston-TX/23477122/
  2. No longer listed on Loopnet. Any info here?
  3. I don't get it. A car ran into the building. It's been without brick, with plastic sheeting, for more than a year. I don't understand why they have not been allowed to repair the building with the brick that is there.
  4. Just posted on The Leader: "Houston City Council approved the submission of a grant application to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department in October of last year. In May, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission approved the $898,000 urban outdoor matching grant for the planned park, Sunset Heights Park. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department grant will be matched with public funds and donations to repurpose the METRO Transit Station." https://www.theleadernews.com/community/planned-sunset-heights-park-receives-grant/article_839a126a-c936-11eb-b90c-53e9690afee7.html?fbclid=IwAR0KWB9mfHep9XIyuE0P-aAIJT94xDwysFCVRJtjNbzvoL9-OHxjgK9Mp3o
  5. If I were to build a casino in the area, I would definitely head West of town. Try to pull in some of the San Antonio and Austin customers. Somewhere along Columbus/Schulenberg, if you can find enough land.
  6. Did I understand the video correctly? First floor parking, then a floor of retail, and then 3 more floors of parking? Also, they referred to the building the party was held as their "sister building?" Looks like the building at Studewood and 11th. Can anyone confirm? Also, Mr. Houston? 🤢
  7. As a single woman, I LOVE living in a high rise. Don't have to worry about maintenance issues. Feel very secure and safe. I had an old Oak Forest area home that I traded in for my 1 bedroom condo. I never plan on leaving the sky!
  8. It is a school. I don't remember where I saw it, but will try to find it.
  9. I have a small project that I need help with. I have a 5000 sq ft lot next to an existing commercial building that I need to make into a concrete parking lot. Any contractors that you can recommend that would be willing to do something like this? Will need plans and permits, I'm guessing. Would that require a civil engineer as well? Any and all guidance is appreciated.
  10. Took these last weekend. When I went by yesterday, there is 8 inch indention or so, the excavator is gone, and there are 6 metal bollards erected in 2 places around the circle. The only thing I can come up with is a future splash park? The rest of the transit station remains unchanged for now.
  11. There is heavy equipment there and a small construction fence. Hopefully this is getting underway. Will post a pic when I can.
  12. Too bad they can't pick up the Town in City Brewing building and somehow incorporate that into the mix.
  13. Junior's Produce, which took over the Canino's space in February, is no longer at this location. Will be good when the construction is done. The market is currently a mess!
  14. Drove by the market on Saturday. It was a cluster to say the least. A large portion of the market is fenced off, and the parking lot is being taken up. Many of the vendors in the back were placed under temporary tents. Only 1 way in and out around Junior's (old Canino's). One entrance on the North side for the large trucks for the wholesale trade. Will be interesting to see how this shapes up. Also, it will be interesting to see how many of the wholesalers stay.
  15. Either would be an improvement over an abandoned Metro station.
  16. I don't want to hijack this thread, what about the now abandoned Metro station at 20th/W Cavalcade. Wish Metro would sell that and recoup some tax $ or donate it for a park. I know most Heights residents are anti- chain, but a Starbucks drive through would fit beautifully on the property that was the Metro station.
  17. Fitzgerald's was originally the Polish Home. My father told stories of dances and parties there. Best story was either during or right after WWII. He and his cousin were at a dance there, and while dancing, his cousin hit a girl's leg and tore her stockings. The girl's date insisted that he pay for the stockings as there were expensive and hard to come by. A fight ensued at the top of the stairs, punches were thrown, and the date fell down one side of the stairs and my dad and his cousin ran down the other.
  18. I don't necessarily jump to political climate for my decision, but yes, I do believe that companies will pull back on investing if taxes are raised. Also, I would think that capital gains would be raised with a Democratic President, which would affect my net outcome. And, this area is high and dry...not affected by flooding at all. In reality, I guess I'm looking for verification that I should sell now, rather than wait.
  19. So...what is being proposed for that corner?
  20. Wasn't sure where to put this, but thought I would put it in politics. Looking for opinions for Houston's economy and real estate market in the next few years. Our economy seems to be booming, and love him or hate him, I do believe that Trump's tax breaks have helped with stoking the economy along. I don't, however, think he will be re-elected in 2020 and I think the Democrats will win back the White House. If that occurs, how does our economy respond? Continue to move along? Slow down? I have some commercial property that I am thinking of selling, and I really think I want to sell before the next election. I'm worried about a down turn in the next few years. Thoughts?
  21. Would not want an East facing unit in this building. You could end up with no view if something is built on the East side of that block.
  22. But, will the ghosts approve of the sale? Or did they evacuate with the flood waters too??
  23. Just out of curiosity, what is the price to move a house? Let's say you wanted to buy one of the houses listed on Cherry's site for sale and move it to a vacant lot. Does anyone have a ballpark figure?
  24. Well, those Paper City ba**ards! I was looking for a date and didn't find one!!
  25. Posted on Sunday by PaperCity magazine. No new info, really. Does give a timeline of 3 years - not sure if that was mentioned before or not. https://www.papercitymag.com/restaurants/houston-farmers-market-finally-world-class-own-pike-place-market-mlb-capital-todd-mason/
