  1. Norton's has the best draft beer selection in Pearland. Also have a separate bar with wine and speciality martinis.

Wild Geese Tavern has a nice interior, with a pseudo-separated bar and a back area w/ pool tables.

Centercourt is always hopping on Friday, but it's pretty small. great pizza and decent beer on tap and bottled.

BJs has a good bar area. Their own beer is decent.

Haven't been to the Sam's Boat here. Nice patio for when the weather is good though.

  2. I'm in SCR in one of the neighborhoods where homes originally were built in the $160-$260k range, the vast majority being <$200k.

My neighborhood is extremely diverse. Just going down my street from the houses I know:

    Black

    Asian

    White

    Black (was white originally)

    White

    Asian

    Black

    Black

    Asian

    White

    White

    Black

    Indian

    Asian/Hispanic

    White

    Hispanic

    Hispanic

    Black

    South American?

    French Canadian? (white)

Then there is a cul-de-sac where 4 of the 6 are Black, other 2 white.

It's probably higher % black then most would expect. We like the neighborhood quite a bit.

  3. Thanks for the update on the beer. I've been trying to find the beer/wine manager when I'm in there to ask him what the deal is. ALL the other HEBs in this state have VERY solid beer selections, so I was pretty stunned w/ the selection to this point. To make matters worse, the liquor store near work stopped carrying the only brand I would buy from them - Bridgeport.

In fact, they don't carry a SINGLE IPA in the entire store.

I'm hoping for Bridgeport, Full Sail, and Sierra Nevada selections. That will make me happy.

  4. Correction: The Town Center mall will be on the SW side of 518 and 288.

The NW side is owned by a man named "FOX" and this article just says it will be "retail". I can confirm he began clearing it last week and the buldozers are working today.

Seems like a ton of retail in one area....and they are going to have to do something about 518 west of 288. It's a two lane country road with no shoulder.

  5. They have started clearing land at NW corner of 518 and 288. Best I can tell this will be "Pearlad Town Center" and will be anchored by Dillards (Fall 2008) and Foley's (2009).

Promenade will be at SW corner of 288 and 8, anchored by Bass Pro Shops with plans for another movie theatre (Cinemark just opened at SE corner of 288 and 518). There will either be a new grocery store in this section or at the north entrance of Shadow Creek Ranch - either another Kroger or hopefully an HEB (but probably not a central market).

They also just started on a Walgreens that will be at the NE corner of 518 and Kirby (back entrance to SCR).

Strip center on the south side of 518 south of SCR has also broke ground and there is a Church that went up quickly just a little west of that.

Place is gonna be a mad house for the next few years....
