  1. If anyone hasn't been to Nancy's Hustle still, it just continues to be top notch. I'm impressed every time I go.

The proposed development will lie along Creek Bend Drive south of Fluor Daniel Drive and promises to include 9,600 square feet of flexible co-working office space, 4,425 square feet of meeting space, and 12,000 square feet for a leasing office, fitness and gaming center and a cafe/coffee shop on the ground floor as well as five “live-work units.” The residential units will be single and two-bedroom and will spread over 6.5 acres, according to documents submitted by the developer, Morgan Group. One thing missing from the development are retail options, which city staff point out is due to deed restrictions on the property."

  5. They broke ground on this some time ago, I still haven’t seen any construction yet.

  6. You know, I think you might be right. Case in point…The Houston Botanic Garden…first it took decades to actually open and now it is developing at a snail’s pace. There is literally nothing to see there (after 2 1/2 years)…It makes me mad when I compare it to the Dallas Arboretum and Fort Worth Botanic Gardens.

  7. I don't mind Metro doing that but that lady should have known better

  8. Noticed this on Loopnet. This is across the street from UT's land on Holmes road. https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/700-Holmes-Rd-Houston-TX/8791075/ Good chunk of land for urban sprawl. I bet within 20 years this place will become mixed-use with housing, office, and shopping.

  9. This kind of looks like an Amazon warehouse with windows 😅

  10. Drove past there this weekend. The window added to the front has already made this building look tons better in my opinion! I am excited to see this place finished!

  11. What part of Bobby Huegel screams hooka lounge or tattoo parlor. This is definitely going to become some sort of establishment that compliment's Anvil.

  12. https://www.bisnow.com/houston/news/other/astros-owner-jim-cranes-vision-for-downtown-79852#ath Also, a reminder that Crane owns 2 buildings on Texas south of Home Plate (probably the bars on block 161). With Nau Center for Heritage dead, could this be the spot? http://houston.culturemap.com/news/restaurants-bars/03-30-16-astros-owner-gives-the-inside-scoop-on-his-two-new-restaurants-near-minute-maid-park/#slide=0

  14. And if Camden indeed breaks ground soon, he will Tilman will already have a start on more energy over there.

  15. Don't forget about Fertitta and his ownership of the Rockets. Bet he brings a lot of energy to his corner of downtown too. I bet he reveals a big concept in the coming months.

  16. I could see HEB being in a mixed-use project on the south side of Downtown, capturing both Downtown/Midtown, and WF on the north side more towards Market Square since that is more their clientele. With the Astros winning the World Series and Crane's plan to put a park next to MMP, I am very excited for the next residential boom in downtown and all that will come with it.

  17. So one can get a meal there. Good to know. Thanks for verifying.

  18. Downtown is dead. Light rail killed it. Some dude in Chicago told me so. These restaurants are FAKE NEWS. Sad!

  19. After reading a recent thread on this forum, one could be excused for coming away with the idea that it might be hard to find a bite to eat in downtown Houston on the weekends. Always eager to find the facts, I did some digging around and came up with a list of 110 restaurants, cafes, etc, where one can eat on Saturday and Sundays. An additional 41, for a total of 151, are open on Saturdays. And more are on the way!

  21. Surprised Ragin Cajun didn't make it. They pre-dated the boom, so I would have thought that they would be ok with what's available. Maybe the lease was up and they didn't want to bother with it anymore. Cajun food without significant beer sales just sounds odd in any case, they probably felt better off redeploying their efforts elsewhere.

  23. At the 609 main tour today, guides indicated that a coffee shop by the Blacksmith (coffee shop in Montrose) team will be going in the southeast corner of the lobby and a white table cloth restaurant will take the north retail spot. Also indicated that B&B Butchers will be opening something in 1111 rusk.

  28. Anybody know what the renovated old yellow Passport place catercorner from the Mickey Leland federal is? Looks like a coffee shop by the dark grey color palette and I saw it was permitted for new plumbing & electrical a couple months back.

  29. New food spot opening in the tunnels at 919 Milam. IIRC this used to be an ATM for a credit union so this food spot can't be too big....

  30. Actually it looks like they're not touching the Texas Direct Auto sign; they are just putting a (underwhelming-looking) bar in at the ground floor.

  31. Talked to a guy who has a lease on 911 Franklin Street, in between La Calle Tacos and the Houston Watch Co. It is being built out as a bar. It appears to be the same guy as Brewery Tap.

  33. Interesting. Didn't know this was happening. The last few times I was downtown I noticed the gap between Frank's Pizza and Aris, nice to know it will be filled.

  34. ^^^ why on earth are all of the aforementioned "bars" closing in lieu of the forthcoming SUPERBOWL? shouldn't they all be upgrading / cleaning house / and repositioning themselves for what is undoubtedly going to be a financial gold mine?? what gives.....

  35. i think it is a really great hang out place and the food was PRETTY good...glad the menu is a work in progress but in general love having a new place walking distance from my condo that feels lively, fun and cool and has an awesome outdoor patio. All in all i will be there often to support this new local business and hope to see some of you there. (ps...yes the service can be slow but its a new place and our waitress was super nice)

  38. So, let me sure that I've got this right. You won't set foot in this restaurant because of the name, but you would eat at it if it went by a different name regardless of the food that is actually served there? Congrats! You're not trendy, but that sounds just as pretentious as the trendy people!
