Nonsense. It's hard not to make an erection joke every once in a while on a forum about skyscrapers. What's the prob anyway. All buildings have to be erected don't they? I think a 30 story building would be extremely hot and sexy on that block.

Well...Houston you been busy in my absence. Looks like I have a lot of catching up to do.

I went back and looked at the renderings that were posted in this thread. They clearly show the brick sections being renovated. I know them well enough to recognize them... each window, door, overhead door, etc. Even the funky entrance on the Nance St NW corner is shown in the renderings. While you would think the demo guy would know what he's doing, and he was VERY clear that they were taking down the entire structure, and even gave me a time frame (4-6 weeks start to finish, which is way more time than they need to remove the old metal structures), that doesn't mean he's correct. But I don't hold out much hope at this point. I took a brick that had already been knocked loose as a memento. By my rough estimate, I spent 50,000+ hours of my life in that bldg.

Those trees are going to be huge by the time they get done with this.

Good news! Metro is in discussions with the City and Memorial Park Conservancy exploring the possibility of adding a station at Memorial Park for the Inner Katy BRT.

Looks like the tower crane is going to have to be jumped in the next few weeks.

That's a pretty important one. The Main and Prairie block across from Moonshiner's is probably mine. Bank of Southwest tower is still a pretty major one.

From my understanding, this warehouse is home to a local real estate developer's private car collection. I think that helps explain the overall Area 51-vibe of the building and the fact that security is always present on site. (I know who it is and what kind of collection is there, but don't know that disclosing those details in a public forum is the best idea)

The warehouse has some companies in it. I've seen folks trucking in/out. Unsure what. That said, there is a lot of housing in the area with all the new townhome developments, Forth at Navigation, some of the older townhomes, so, may have a lot of foottraffic. The way I look at it is this: if Tout Suite and Moontower could survive before the townhome density popped off, I'm sure a food court can survive.

So, it turns out they are also putting one of these "Original Chop House" restaurants in the Centre at River Oaks, which is apparently what the TDLR page was referring to (albeit with an incorrect address... it should be 3021 Kirby, not 3024).

Nothing says Houston like relocating historical structures for a surface lot.

His buildings appear to depreciate very fast. He does offer a lot of amenities and a bold taste, if that’s your thing. But if you look at recent sales data at Arabella and Astoria, pricing is way down from original.

Parking Lot, 5 Weed Patch, 3 Parking Lot wins. Plus it's so urban! Ugly urban, but urban. Parking lot puts the urb in urban. Weed Patch makes me sneeze, has snakes and gets mud in my car. Remember when everybody thought this was going to look like Victory Park? Now we are arguing about whether weed patches are better than parking lots. I'm so disappointed in this project that I don't even care about it anymore. Thank Christ for Regent Square and Autry Park and East River.

Unrelated sidebar: I used to wait tables there 15 years ago when it was called Nick's Pasta Place. What a mess that place was. Anyway, some of the regulars would tell me about how the building used to be car dealership and a hot dog stand before Nick bought it and turned it into an Italian restaurant.

The Brays Project is a great example of recognizing a problem and implementing a studied approach to flood management. The addition of many new retention ponds, the construction of new bridges, and the re-shaping of the contours and widths of the bayou hopefully will allow for more capacity, and will mitigate most of the flooding issues. The bonus to everyone is the creation of new and improved hike and bike paths which have become some of the most important connectors in our alternative transportation system. It has also brought about the creation of many new parks and recreational areas. I think this is a win win win. Especially for the home owners along Brays bayou who have suffered through so many devastating floods. Kudos to everyone involved in this massive undertaking and hopefully it truly makes a difference. I just wish they could do something about the bottleneck at 288 where the bridges, concrete supports, and earthworks still create a serious threat to the med center.
