  1. https://twitter.com/LinaHidalgoTX/status/1321214456500752388 Looks like Centerpoint has given the city the go-ahead to build trails on their easements. Can't wait for these to go in and start linking up the bayou paths.

  3. The easement on the West side...perfectly solves the issue of linking Hermann/Third Ward/UH to Memorial Park/Galleria. Its almost too good. I'm assuming this map is correct as it came from the 2014 article about this:

  5. @HNathoo Is correct, Madison Marquette no longer owns the site. It’s possible they filed for a demolition permit before the sale. PMRG built 2929 Wesleyan, purchased this site and built The Travis before merging with Madison Marquette. Now that Skanska has control of this land I expect them to partner with a different architect- therefore a new design.

  7. If CRTKL which was behind these visuals is the architect still then there is reason to be excited. I really think they need to take these and go to Michael Hsu. The stuff in these visuals fits his style, and Michael Hsu has proven in this city and others that he can do great work. Just my opinion.

  10. I live in Austin and this one looks like everything that is going up here....Austin just gets excited when they get a tall building, they don't care what it looks like

  13. Jensen is being resurfaced from Clinton to Navigation. Unsure if it is related to East River, the Navigation/Jensen/Runnels roundabout project, or just regular construction work. Regardless of what it's for, resurfacing Jensen is appreciated.

  14. I’m not sure about angle changing the light picture @X.R., but the first one was taken on an especially cloudy day and with the interior lights on. Last two were taken yesterday with no interior lights on. So I guess it just depends on time of day, cloud cover, etc. In regards to the avant-garde art installation, the yellow cylindrical one is actually an interactive piece in which the public is able to add whatever they want to the piece. I believe it’s called “Your Mama Doesn’t Work Here”

  15. Off topic, but when we lived in Norway, we could not find a home for rent that had a bathtub. I was politely told by the agent that "Norwegians don't want to sit in a pool of their own filth!". So we bought a Chinese cedar tub off of Alibaba and filled it up using the shower head. Years later, it is now sitting in our yard here in Houston as a planter!

  16. First and second floor galleries are pretty much done and have art installed. Third floor is nearing completion and should see art being moved in probably this week. Missing tube glass should be here first week of November. I’m so excited for everyone else to see this building. We’ve worked so hard to get to this point and it’s gratifying to see the excitement in the larger community!

  21. I think the reason people like it is because Houston has been spitting out the most monotonous structures... in a good project. When Hines gives us a unbalanced roof, or turning the tower base off the normal grid, we get super excited. It's all relative. Majority of the buildings have been okay or decent. The rest are boring or ugly. There's nothing exciting, there's nothing that would make it to a coffee table book.

  24. From what I can tell, looks like 288 is going to open any day or any week now. I saw police officers and probably construction workers smoothly driving down the tollroads yesterday. Most of it clearly looks finished.

  26. I think the effect is going to be very severe in the 3rd ward once construction on the BRT starts. It'll be 5-10 minutes away on the line, and by far the cheapest area along the entire length. It's going to be targeted heavily for new apartment/condo construction for sure.

  27. If you've been by here lately, I have to tell you. It is other-worldly... SO MUCH activity! I lived in the allen house 7 years ago and know that land sat there for years just idle... So many boots on the ground / cranes / traffic guards / construction crews / noises. This area will be unrecognizable. I always new this area was going to be special.. but to see multiple companies all committed to ongoing projects at the same time is amazing, especially considering how this land was treating not that long ago.
