  2. According to a McCarthy worker I talked to during the tower crane removal, the other cranes will come down toward the end of the year and beginning of next year. McCarthy will finish around October 2020 and turn it over to the museum. He showed me a couple of pics of a test lighting of the glass panels. There won't be lights behind every single panel but just portions of them. For those worried about colored lights he said they would only be white lights, no gimmicky colored lights since it's a classy museum not a circus.

  3. Not sure why the sign is facing south, who is supposed to see that? The workers.

  5. I'm not sure I agree that the Atlanta design is better. I actually like how the "Bowen River Oaks" design is more broken up. Giant superblock buildings like the Atlanta design are not generally my favorite. And as to ARCs - I think the form-based regulations to be (hopefully) associated with the Walkable Places and Transit Corridor ordinances are a better, more predictable, consistent, and speedy approach than individual architectural reviews for every new building.

  7. The renderings are up on the LMC Lennar website. They are calling it "Bowen River Oaks".

  8. A different rendering perspective than the one on the sign, found on Manzel Homes web site. The Museum Tower sure has an ugly back wall. Too bad they don't find a way to screen it.

  9. Something is wrong with the hoist cable going to the trolley, I think the cable has jumped a sheave. Look at the cable hanging in front of the cab, it shouldn't be doing that.

  12. This is moving way faster than I thought but some dynamite would take it down in seconds.

  15. Right? I mean its not that much better. They are also very different in building mass. Completely different projects. Its pretty unfair to compare both. Two different contexts as well.

  16. 35 miles today, slight north wind made the humidity tolerable even though it was still hot.

  17. Straight TRASH design - reminds me of M5250 on Westheimer across from the Galleria (ONLY WORSE). This is why Houston needs some sort of Architectural Review Committee. Compare this design to what Lennar is currently building in Atlanta’s Buckhead area (which is very similar to Houston’s Uptown) to see why this sickens me!

  18. From today. The two Katy Freeway tower cranes together. Does Arch-Con usually put their logo on tower cranes?

  20. It’s risen 10 floors in about 3 months. Is that slow? I think it just took a while to ramp up. Also I’m enjoying watching this one rise from the north. It’s fun seeing a new tower poke above the bayou tree canopy.

  21. At most of the neighborhood meetings, this park is always spoken about as being “ already have100%money needed” “ready” “green lighted” etc just need to approve contractor contract by COH—- weeks and months of this talk, no one could figure out the hold up..... but then I heard a few neighbors grumbling and now I might have a bit of insight into the delay. TheMayors office sets the agenda. Somehow theMayor is very busy and caught up in campaigning, suddenly it’s difficult to get new items on the agenda. This seems plausible but it’s hard to believe it would actually be true. If true, I’m sad.

  22. Site as of today. I like how you can read the parking levels. Fencing was removed. Gazebo won't last long. Surface lot is slowly being torn up.
