HBJ announced that Mendocino Farms will be opening its second downtown location in the redeveloped Two Allen Center. That's great news.4 points

Not to come off as a too tree huggery, but that tree is one of my favorite things in the neighborhood. It's absolutely gorgeous. It's definitely staying for now...the workers have been taking breaks under it. I hope they find a way to keep it.4 points

At most of the neighborhood meetings, this park is always spoken about as being “ already have100%money needed” “ready” “green lighted” etc just need to approve contractor contract by COH—- weeks and months of this talk, no one could figure out the hold up..... but then I heard a few neighbors grumbling and now I might have a bit of insight into the delay. TheMayors office sets the agenda. Somehow theMayor is very busy and caught up in campaigning, suddenly it’s difficult to get new items on the agenda. This seems plausible but it’s hard to believe it would actually be true. If true, I’m sad.1 point

The courts are not fine where they are. They will move them... that’s public record. Whether they move in down Washington ave or completely downtown is still to be decided.1 point

This is going to look great. It will really stand out in the immediate area. It's across from The RO development. Hopefully in 2 years when this ends, The RO will start.1 point

Site as of today. I like how you can read the parking levels. Fencing was removed. Gazebo won't last long. Surface lot is slowly being torn up.1 point

View from the train. If they actually turn this around it will be amazingly pleasing to the eyes.1 point

As a downtown resident, I would lose my mind over this. Honestly a smaller, more urban HEB could work as it would service Downtown, Midtown, Eado, East End, and some Near Northside residents. It's unlikely, but there are a lot of multi-family projects proposed and under construction in these neighborhoods, so the density in the next several years may make sense.1 point

Going to have incredible views of all the nearby parking garages. Kidding aside, whoever lives here will have great access to all the amenities in downtown, especially Discovery Green.1 point

This kind of reminds me of back in the early-mid 1830's, the nightlife crowd was great around Harrisburg, you could get all the whisky you wanted for half a cent a shot and just try not to wander into the bayou. Then Santa Ana came through and burned the place, and the crowd moved off to Houston which was then all the rage. They even put some wooden blocks to get through the mud and that really sent it through the roof. But then they moved the capital to Austin and that laid Houston low for awhile and some of the old regulars came back to Harrisburg. It was quite a diverse crowd back then. You'd get Yankees, Brits, some Germans, even some Scots and Irish. People were just having fun, they didn't care. One night I drank some water out of the wrong barrel and had dysentery for a week. But that happened to everyone. Good times.1 point
