Imagine what Downtown would be like if all of those shops / restaurants in the tunnels and all of the people who use the tunnels daily were above ground... Downtown would be a completely different place.5 points

It was a 6-7 block walk for me from the bus stop to my office downtown. On rainy or extremely hot days it’s a life saver. If the tunnels weren’t there I would have driven to work everyday instead of using mass transit. I didn’t really have to use them that often but it kept me from having to carry a slicker suit and umbrella to work everyday. For me, without the tunnels, mass transit in downtown Houston would have been unusable.3 points

Our tunnels are not unlike our domed/retractable roof stadiums that we keep closed when it's 65 degrees and sunny.3 points

I completely agree. I don't get why a lot of people on here are so obsessed with height. I'd rather have a shorter tower with excellent ground floor connectivity with the street and the surrounding area than a taller tower that is completely isolating it's self. After all we walk and spent the majority of our time at street level not 50 stories in the air.2 points

One the things they did do fairly recently is reconstruct the TX-146B/99 interchange in Baytown. For years (though around 2009 stop signs were added, followed by stoplights in 2013), 146B curved north and 99 ended in a T-intersection, but work began in 2016 so that 146B east went straight to 99, and you'd have to turn left (and crossover westbound 99) to get to 146B. As part of this, 99 was four laned out to FM 1405. That seemed to go fairly unnoticed...but knowing H is underway makes me all the more eager to finally get an update to Google Earth.1 point

Loved reading the Almanac myself. Full of information and yes I would read the section on skyscrapers, populations etc.1 point

Yeah they have options here. The rendering depicts apartments as Phase II but if the multifamily market tanks they could go medical office, which means the building will end up being even taller (office levels are usually higher than apartment levels). Though I would prefer it to be multifamily due to it being in the core of TMC.1 point

Lots of little orange surveying (?) flags out marking the site of the office building. Guessing groundbreaking is imminent.1 point
