  2. The latest Planning Commission Agenda approved the Variance Request for this so this should be moving forward soon! Didn't know of this bicycle path; is there a thread for this?

  4. IMHO - upper Kirby could support a bigger hotel. It would be the only new hotel near the heart of River Oaks without crossing rr tracks, plus it would be close to west u and rice village. Of course there is the tragic And tired Doubletree next to Lakewood - but seriously who would stay there?

  5. Happy to hear. This feels like an East Coast tower. Maybe not something directly New York Cityish, but along the lines of Boston or Philadelphia, and to a lesser extend Atlanta. It's clean, unoffensive, and a strong, dark pallet. Refreshing to see something other than Southern California or Emerald Coast-esque. Almost like this cold tall beer i'm enjoying while posting this nonsense.

  6. Greenway Hotels are business orientated (most in this city are), but there are plenty of options at both to walk around and eat. One of them is on the light rail with access to the park & midtown/downtown .

  7. Only go in about once a year, but it's like the Sears that time forgot. Staff seem super friendly, but perhaps they're just surprised and glad you're there. It'd be great if they pulled off the outside sheet metal one day to see if it was worth saving. My guess is that it probably is.

  8. It is not Midway. It is a company out of California, they own one more property in Sugarland. The renderings shown are old and might be getting updated, but I have a feeling based on Market conditions that nothing will get built for the foreseeable future. This property could change hands once the everything is cleared and cleaned up.

  9. Zaza isn't close to restuarants and shopping and Renaissance is kind of a weird location unless you're seeing Joel Olsteen. When we have business people come in we out them at the zaza but it would be more convientent and I think a better experience for them to be in Upper Kirby. They could uber or walk to a lot of restuarants or the Village. Plus the newly improved Levy Park right behind it.

  10. This has possibly been the plan the entire time... I hope this forces that little plaza across the street where Twin Peaks is at to remodel... that little area has so much untapped potential

  11. Glad to see people still cheerleading the loss of retail in a burgeoning neighborhood, that for now has an abundance of empty lots/ under used space.

  12. Well isn't that something? And here I thought that last picture of the Conference room was a shot taken in the actual room, showing the wide open green spaces and plentiful trees across the street from the Stowers building.

  14. ****Does anybody have the address of the original Pea Farm?**** The old P-Farm, short for Prison Farm - not Pea Farm - was on the property now occupied by the HPD Southeast Sub-Station and Municipal Court at 8300 Mykawa. The city held on to the land when it closed down the P-Farm, but found a use for it some time later when HPD started opening sub-stations around town.

  15. I saw these a while back. I'm not sure if they're still the current plans or not.

  16. I looked at the 1955 map and it does show a prison farm south of Bellfort. Thanks. I do not remember any drive-in on Mykawa. I do not remember anything on Mykawa. I must have taken back roads and crossed Bellfort before reaching Mykawa. But I do remember the drive-in on South Park at what would become I-610. It is interesting that all of that was there in 1955. And Kelso Elementary only had 2 wings. They had 5, plus shacks for the 6th graders, by the time I got there.

  18. It's going to happen. It's very deep into the interior designs now and they hired a New York designer to help.

  19. Does anyone know who owns this land? Rumor in Southampton/Upper Kirby is it's Midway and there's another City Centre heading our way but I find that hard to believe because someone on here would have found it and leaked it!
