  1. When I first glimpsed the title of this thread, I got alarmed: Gallery Furniture and Donald Trump teaming up to build something in Houston? Whew, glad I misread it! To be honest, the only Trump project I've actually been in is the Trump Tower in NYC, the lobby of which I recall seeming like an extravaganza of shiny (fake?) brass. Kinda like the way Marriott hotel lobbies were built in 1980 or so, but more so. OTOH, I wouldn't mind seeing the Post Oak Dillards property redeveloped, along with the Zone d' Erotica (nee Roy Rogers Roast Beef sandwich shop).

  2. my source hadnt heard anything about 609 being taller either, and he had just looked at the latest plans their company had available earlier that day. though he seemed to think there would be 50 floors above ground? is 7/17/17 the official delivery date?

  5. +1. I despise digital gauges. In addition to analog gauges being easier to perceive in a steady-state scenario (constant speed or rpm), the same holds true during acceleration/deceleration. The needle sweeping across a gauge face will always be superior to an animated bar graph or LED digits.

  6. Early in the history of Houston the dealer ships seemed to be not only in the downtown area but were strung along Washington Ave. and Harrisburg and on around the curve onto Broadway. Washington Ave was old Hwy. 90 and continued on to Preston in the downtown area. Milam seemed to be heavily vested with dealerships in the downtown area, I can think of about a half dozen that was on Milam just off the top of my head.

  7. Guys. The Swamplot comment of the day was just someone fantasizing about the future of The Galleria. Nothing is actually planned for that.

  8. Looking at the official Google+ page, the clock has re-appeared in one of the photos - I hope it gets installed i think it will add a lot of character (note that these were both uploaded on May 22)

  9. They have blocked off Main completely in front of 806. I'm presuming that they will be doing work on the entryway extending nearly to the street.

  10. Meanwhile, pedestrians heading east on Rusk from the only open sidewalk in its 800 block (a crossing that's also necessary for those making a jog to continue walking north on Travis, again due to taking down the Houston Club building) still can't see the crossing signal. Edit: This is my last post on this particular issue. I'm no longer going to participate in a game of "is not - is too" on a side point, and I apologize to those who've had to put up with the noise.

  11. Disagree. The Admiral Motel's an exemplar of the area's local charm. I'm not aware of any prostitution rings going on there now, and would be sad to see it plowed under in favor of more featureless redevelopment.

  12. They have added something of an "eyebrow" to the top of the unfinished section. Not sure how much of it you can make out in the picture here. There will be a ledge right below the 4th floor windows.
