  11. Regarding the possibility of retail, (1) we do not know that there is not going to be retail (2) the renderings look like there will be some retail (3) Alliance has built other projects with retail. On a related note, the downtown current projects map says the building will have an underground garage (which makes 1st floor retail even more feasible/likely). I have no idea how reliable that note is, but there it is.

  12. Rumor on the street is that Cameron acquired 25 acres from Apache. I believe this location is the former Dow Chemical HQ at 400 West Sam Houston Parkway. They have real estate all over the city, particularly in Westway Park. This must be a large consolidation for them. Apparently going to include over 1 million square feet of office. Patrinely will develop it for Cameron...you have to believe the architect will be Gensler. Same team currently developing Southwestern Energy's new HQ in Springwoods Village. How many energy companies are left to build new campuses for?

  14. probably very out of date, but interesting none the less. i've never seen this detailed before http://www.theplansource.org/images/projects/morris_project_1_image_2.pdf Also out of date but one rendering that I don't remember seeing that shows two pools on the roof of the small building planned for the middle of the development - would be very cool. Hoping they stick close to the original game plan. http://naberkowitz.com/Regent_Square_Brochure.pdf

  15. Is this true? phase two has begun??? Regent Square, a mixed-use development in the midtown submarket, has started construction on its second phase. Upon completion, the master planned development will have a total of 240,000 SF of Class A office space. o Phase I will have an 11 story, 165,000 SF building. http://downtownhouston.org/site_media/uploads/attachments/2013-08-14/2013-2Q_-_Cassidy_Turley.pdf

  18. With developments like this, I don't for one minute doubt that Houston will look like Trantor or Coruscant by 2018.

  21. The fastest growing city in America, the top city for job creations and worldwide media attention............I believe it is on its way to becoming a world class city. It seems that the pace is growing each passing month. By next year I would not be surprised to hear of skyscrapers off I-45 going toward Galveston.

  22. I'd say it has more of a slant on the sides than a twist but that's just me. I like the building and hope to see it go up. Hope we get a residential tower like this (40+ stories) to go up in downtown soon. (I know there are proposals floating around but they're just that until otherwise proven)

  23. It is definitely The Parklane. The lowrise building on the left is The Plaza Museum District. In the background, the brick building is Museum Tower on Montrose with the corner of the Diagnostic Clinic on Binz visible on the edge of the rendering. This rendering is from the pocket of Hermann Park behind the 17th tee box on the golf course.

  27. My dream is downtown skyline connected with midtown high rises connected to the museum district towers connected to the med center skyline one day. ONE HUGE SKYLINE!

  28. It's a very Miami-esque condo tower. I'm sure not as grand as we all had imagined, but a fabulous addition to the skyline, and slowly making my dream of Hermann park completely surrounded by condo towers a reality. Looks like it might be the tallest in the area!

  29. That's a beautiful building. I like how well it compliments The Parklane, including some design similarities. Also, placing it at the corner of Hermann and Jackon makes it right across from the Centennial Gardens parking lot, preserves most of the TEMA lot for future development including the possibility of a third tower as was originally contemplated, doesn't block any significant views from The Parklane (see attached), and shouldn't arouse any NIMBY protests. Job well done.

  30. Gotta agree with you here. When the rail was being built, all we heard was allllll these business owners crying foul about how the rail was killing their businesses. NOW that the main st rail is complete, it seems like everyone is clueless on how to capitalize on it. I mean HELLO, you basically have thousands of people every hour passing by your business just looking out of the train windows for something interesting to look at. Advertise loudly, build around the stops, do something!

  33. Not in a bad sense, but this place is going to look strange to me in downtown. This style is everywhere else but downtown. It'll actually make downtown start to look like a neighborhood. Weird!
