Thanks for posting this. Before I open a new topic I always perform a search to see if one already exists. I did this recently with Hollywood Cemetery. Nothing came up on search so I opened a new topic. Within an hour a mod merged my post with an existing topic. I thought I was going crazy. The “archived” issue explains it. Thanks!

It seems that one thing our Major League Baseball and football teams have in common is their owners are not very good on the development end. I also think Crane made a terrible mistake in getting rid of his G.M> All the guy did was got them to the A.L. Championship series. I know their pitching has had problems but it now seems there is a lot of turmoil on the team. No love. If it aint broke don't fix it. Is Abreu getting ready for social security? I bet this affects their plans for moving forward on their village plans.

ARTECHOUSE will be opening a location here. I've personally met artists working on the project and they told me the tentative opening date is sometime in September. Their website already has job listings for the new location. https://www.artechouse.com/jobs/- 34 replies

I think it is kind of interesting that Shell is planning on adding new EV charging stations instead of retrofitting existing gas stations to have both. Will be interesting to see if they build any type of retail component with these.

I think we all thought we were getting a "Baseball Village" similar to the ones surrounding the ball park in other MLB cities.

Last time Crane said anything about this, he said we'd see plans late last 2023. Since then we've only see a half-ass rendering.

I wonder if Frontier will use the A3 gates now? I think Frontier has briefly moved to using some D gates as they have expanded quite a bit recently at IAH.

The 5" sidewalks aren't being widened, so he's probably ok with it, but he might not like the full depth concrete pavement replacement. All he knows is "mill and overlay". -
I hope they build 10 more of these. Need more foot traffic in the village

Some Missouri City residents against rezoning for proposed Palace Event Center | Community Impact "According to agenda documents, the development would feature: A 96,000-square-foot, six-story hotel, consisting of approximately 80 rooms A 22,750-square-foot event center with breakout space Six residential cottage units to be used as an accessory to the event facility An outdoor event space Parking and landscaping elements Should the development be approved, construction is expected to begin on Phase 1 in 2025 for the event center and four cottage units, while Phase 2 will begin in 2027 with the hotel’s construction, according to agenda documents." Interestingly enough, the information that the city had updated on this project appeared the same day as the above article (4/19). It shows there have been some adjustments to the plan. The new site plan reflects the comments from residents. Those changes now include... -Reduction in size of the hotel from 6 to 4 floors, and combining it with the event center rather than as standalone structures -Reducing the number of "cottage" units from 6 to 3. -Increasing the size of the sound barrier walls -Moving the properties closer to Knight Road and further from the natural preserve section. -Retaining all trees in the natural preserve area -Adding a swale to form a barrier between the nearby residential and aid in stormwater drainage Zoning | Missouri City, TX - Official Website (missouricitytx.gov) Initial notice issued to neighbors in February: missouricitytx.gov/DocumentCenter/View/16562/Palace-Event-Center-Packet Site plan with updated comments from meeting mentioned in article, posted by city on 4/19: https://www.missouricitytx.gov/DocumentCenter/View/16620 City response to comments: City-Responses-to-Zoning-Amendment-Concerns (missouricitytx.gov)

Expedia layoffs in Austin again - Austin Business Journal (bizjournals.com) "In a letter to the Texas Workforce Commission on April 22, Cathy Rankin, Expedia's human resources director, said the layoffs at its 11920 Alterra Parkway office will start on June 21. That's within one of the larger towers on the north end of The Domain in North Austin. The company did not state a reason for the layoffs in its filing, but a spokesperson said in a statement to the Austin Business Journal that the job cuts are part of about 1,500 cuts globally that it announced on Feb. 22. Expedia previously has said it laid off 64 people at its Austin office in The Domain as part of that move. Combined, that means the company's 2024 layoffs in Austin are impacting 148 people."- 43 replies
