Texas A&M University College Station Campus Developments
texan replied to EllenOlenska's topic in Bryan-College Station
Notes from Texas A&M's budget review: the Aplin Center, despite a pause (on all capital projects not currently in construction last year), will be moving forward with a groundbreaking in January of 2025. The new vet hospital will be located at the corner of University and Agronomy Road, rather than at the corner of University (or Raymond Stotzer at that point) and Harvey Mitchell. This will necessitate the demolition of an extremely old existing building.- 20 replies

A Galveston organization, BUILD Galveston, is working to develop workforce housing as roughly 60% of people who work on the island live on the mainland. Finding ways to get these people to live on the island could help stabilize the island's population. The Landing article provides some historical context to the issue. The main roadblock appears to be land availability. https://houstonlanding.org/theres-not-enough-housing-for-galvestons-growing-workforce-heres-why/

I'm still unsure what all 1318 Magic will entail. Although it is described as a medical cannabis dispensary in its Instagram bio, I don't know if the kitchen will be utilized. 1318 Magic received multiple violation from the city's health department last week. During its change of ownership inspection, it was cited for "food establishment construction / remodeling / alterations / [beginning] before submitting properly prepared plans / specifications for approval."

It appears Buffalo Bayou Brewing Co.'s former Sawyer Yards digs will house Tejas Beer. The brew is from Houston's Gulf Coast Distillers / Giant Texas Distillers. I don't know if this will be a production facility only. There is always the possibility the distiller could include a tasting room and kitchen. Perhaps Gulf Coast Distillers will announce their plans for 2101 Summer St soon. https://tejasbeer.com/ https://www.instagram.com/tejasbeer/

I didn't know about the Idaho location. That's news to me. I'm glad Millie's thriving and is able to expand. I hope their forthcoming Washington Ave restaurant does well. Wonder what changes Millie's has in mind for the space?

Montrose Boulevard Improvements
trymahjong replied to HoustonMidtown's topic in Traffic and Transportation
Walking shoulder to shoulder? For the most part, I find myself walking hand in hand with grandkids on either side who are probably yammering to hold the hand of someone on the other side or the leash of the dog or the handle bars of trainingwheeled bike etc etc etc- you get the idea 10' sidewalks solve a lot of potential walking configurations. -

IntheKnowHouston replied to Amlaham's topic in Uptown and Galleria Area
Are there been any updates on this property? Doves' previous Instagram account is no longer available. I noticed the restaurant created a new Instagram account sometime this month. I'm thinking the restaurant may not be moving forward at 5524 Richmond Ave. -
