BCO & HTXO present Houston Outdoor Live: Camping 101

Spring is in the air! Are you ready?
One of the best camping seasons is just around the corner. And, thank goodness!
It must be my memory fading, but I don’t remember Houston winters’ being this rainy, cold and just downright gross. In spring, the weather is perfect- not too hot and not too cold. The tricky thing is it doesn’t last long in Texas. It’s essential you’re prepared to take advantage of every weekend before that summer heat hits! That’s why it’s a MUST that you come to “Camping LIVE” this month where we’ll tell you everything you need to know to get camping like a pro, or at least an Eagle Scout, this spring.
Join us in person or check us out online via our Facebook LIVE event on the BCO Facebook page (www.facebook.com/BayouCityOutdoors/). Both events run simultaneously, and you can join the Q&A online or in person. If you do happen to drop in, you have the chance to win some very cool giveaways compliments of Whole Earth Provision. Plus, we’ll have refreshments provided by Karbach Brewing Co. and other snacks. The giveaway will be held at the end of the presentation.
Each week we take a topic, drill down as quick & deep as we can, to get you up to speed and out playing. We’ll take Q&A after the presentation to help guide everyone into outdoor summer fun mastery.

Ever heard of car camping, primitive camping or backpacking and wondered WTH? We’ve got you covered, and you’ll be picking your site with confidence in no time at all. We’ll also review equipment you need and don’t need, demonstrate different tents, show you how to set it all up, and share our favorite camping gear.
Topics include:
- Tent Setup 101 – plus using stakes, guy wires and why you need to
- What to take & what to leave at home
- The best campsite and how to find them
- Taking non-campers camping
Plus - if we have time we’ll take about:
- Cooking at camp
- Dutch oven cooking
- Dealing with predators
- Some of our favorite camping spots
