BCO - A Walk in the Woods

Aka Hiking Memorial Park Trails

July 14, 2018

Meet at 8:15 AM, start 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM

Memorial Park by the rugby/soccer field parking lot

N Picnic Lane

Houston, TX 77007

Need a good hike or to escape into nature for a bit this weekend, but don’t have the time to drive out of town. Well, we know just the place.

Memorial Park, one of BCO’s inner city favorites, is an amazing 1,466-acre park right inside the loop. We call it the Central Park of H-Town!

It’s one of the largest parks in the county, and it boasts trails that are a mix of hard packed dirt, sand, trees and tree roots. It’s wooded, wild and hidden right in the middle of our concrete city!

Join us for an hour and a half quick-paced hike through some of the lesser-known (and more adventuresome) trails this park has to offer.

Wear tennis shoes or hiking boots as it’s easy to bang a toe on a tree root. If you’ve never been on these

trails, you’re in for a surprise. There’s some ‘elevation’ in this park…enough that you won’t believe you are still in the flat city of Houston.

Remember to bring your hydration pack or water bottle, as there are no water fountains along the trails.

Please check the meeting location map on the Bayou City Outdoors site calendar before you head over to the park. It’s a big park, and we try and leave on time!

BCO Orientation Dinner

July 26, 2018 -  6:30 PM - 8:30 PM

Becks Prime - Memorial Park Location

1001 East Memorial Loop

Houston, TX 77007

Houston’s a big city, and it’s easy to get overwhelmed here, but BCO makes Houston fun! We know the insides and outs of not only this city, but what adventures lie beyond, and if we don’t, we are ballsy enough to go discover it!

Besides having a nose for adventure, we are experts at connecting people with similar interests; from hiking to biking, kayaking to theatre, travel to socials, we have over 80 events each month! We’ll help you discover and rediscover interests and passions, and meet friends to keep you company along the way.

We know it’s not always easy meeting people in this big city of ours. Relax, we’ll get you plugged in and playing with new friends in no time at all. Whether it’s outdoor activities or indoor socials, we’re serious about making Houston fun!

Are you new to BCO and curious to discover the ins and outs of what this social, outdoor activity group is about? Have you been stalking the calendar for months (or years), but been afraid to join? New and have some questions?  Or, perhaps, you're already a member, but need some tips on navigating the website, or you're still a little nervous about attending an event or outing alone. This event is designed specifically for YOU!

Just want to say hi? Do it! You'll meet folks in the same exact boat as you, and you'll learn a whole lot about the upcoming fun Bayou City Outdoors has coming your way.

Our calendar can be a little overwhelming with 80 to 100 events every month, so let us explain some of our favorites and tell you everything you need to know about being a BCO member. We'll fill you in on the perks, discounts, loaner gear, buddy program, website, RSVP system, tips and so much more.

We work hard to make this event a little more “formal” (if we could ever be accused of that) than our “Meet & Greets.” Time and size permitting, we will have a presentation, Q&A and social time, too. Some of our event Leaders will also be on hand to talk about their upcoming events!

Make new friends and learn about all the fun you're about to have in Houston and worldwide! Hiking, biking, traveling, kayaking, socializing and more is just a dinner away!

Parking – Parking in front of Beck’s; we share a lot with the golf course.

Cost: The event is free; however, you will need to pay for any food you order.

BCO’s B-day Bash

July 28, 2018 -  7 - 10 PM

Doneraki Restaurant (we have the entire bar and outside)

300 Gulfgate Center Mall

Houston, TX 77087

In Texas, when you're 15 years old it's either going to be a quinceanera or just a darn good party!

This year BCO’s celebrating our 15th birthday!

We don’t know how it happened, but somewhere along the way, our B-day Bash became a tradition.  We’ve bowled, two-stepped, partied under black lights, danced the Charleston, and we’ve even had a formal attire throw-down one year!

Dress Code (seriously, BCO?)

Nope, we're not serious!  You can join us in full-on, Quinceanera Formal.  Or, you can throw on a pair of jeans or shorts.  We won't even blink if you come straight from your workout.  Just come join us for the celebration of the summer!

We have a few surprises for the evening so don’t miss out. Feel free to bring friends and celebrate another BCO birthday with all of us!

RSVP at https://bit.ly/2JfiSJW . For additional information, please call 713-524-3567 or e-mail to info@bayoucityoutdoors.com.
