Join Quiksilver and Roxy this summer for Surf Camp! Whether you’ve never set foot on a board, or just want to sharpen your skills, Quiksilver/Roxy Surf Camps are a fun and unique experience. You’ll walk away with a surf adventure you won’t forget!
The program is designed primarily for males and females ages 5 to 18, but can accomodate other ages. Several campers have been in their 20's and 30's, and moms and dads have enjoyed the camp and learned to surf along with the kids. Children under the age of 5 require one-on-one attention and benefit most from the private lesson format.
The primary focus is on surfing instruction and practice. It is our goal to provide each camper with the confidence and knowledge to continue the great sport of surfing on his or her own after camp is over. For those who do not continue to surf, we hope that at the very least our camp will promote life long familiarity with the ocean and all it has to offer. And, of course, we strive to provide fun on the beach and in the ocean for all during our camp sessions.
Our surf camp instructors are all competent surfers and swimmers and are certified in CPR and First Aid. At least one staff member in every session is a certified lifeguard.
All surfing and beach equipment is provided (including surf boards and body boards). Each camper will receive free pizza lunch, stickers, hat, poster.
The camp cost is $50 per person per camp.
In Galveston, surf camp is held at Galveston Island State Park, operated by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. The Park is located within the City of Galveston on the west end of the island, near Jamaica Beach. From the seawall in Galveston, head west on Seawall Boulevard about 10 miles and look for the park entrance on your left. From Interstate 45, exit right onto 61st Street, travel south on 61st Street to the intersection with Seawall Boulevard, and then right on Seawall (FM 3005) about 10 miles to the park entrance on the left. In prior years the park allowed parents to drop off and pick up campers without payment of any fee--for parents staying for camp, a modest parking fee was charged. Due to damage to the park from Hurricane Ike, we are unsure exactly where in the park we will be located this year, but our tents should be visible from the beach behind the park office. Camping and RV sites have been available in the past, but it is unknown whether these will be open this year. Call the park office for further information at 409-737-1222.
