A Walk in the Woods

Event details

A Walk in the Woods

Stephen F Austin State Park

Park Rd 38, San Felipe, TX 77473

January 13 - 9:45 am - 12 pm

Close to Houston, Stephen F Austin is a great way to get outdoors. The park is named after Stephen F. Austin, the "Father of Texas," and it beautifully reflects the Lone Star State's natural charm. With well-maintained trails, it's an ideal spot for hiking and biking, allowing outdoor enthusiasts to explore the scenic landscapes. The park's setting along the Brazos River adds a picturesque backdrop to your outdoor escapades.

Join us for an hour and a half quick-paced hike through some of the lesser-known (and more adventuresome) trails.

Wear tennis shoes or hiking boots, as it’s easy to bang a toe on a tree root.

About the Hike:

We'll hike about 4 miles, give or take. We'll hike the pace of the group but you should be able to hike a 25-30 minute mile. We're a no drop group. That means we make sure everyone who starts the hike with us, finishes the hike with us and you won't get lost on the trail. 😄

What to bring:

- Study shoes for hike; comfortable shoes for after the hike

- Water

- Sun and bug protection

- Layers

Fees: $5 - The hike is free but there is a park entrance fee of $5 per person unless you have a state park pass. The state park pass gets the entire car in for free. To ensure you get a pass and to expedite the check in process, you can reserve your registration with the link below. You still have to check in at HQ but it goes much faster.

About HTXoutdoors:

HTXOutdoors is Houston’s newest Group of Active Houstonians in their 20s & 30s who love outdoor activities, socials & exploring Houston. Are you looking to meet people with similar interests and for more than just another good restaurant or happy hour? We’ve got you covered! From big multisport, multi-day travel like hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu to showing up for a casual volleyball game on a Friday night, there is something for everyone’s taste. Every event has an Event Leader, so you don’t have to worry about showing up by yourself. They greet you and introduce you to others.

We are a no-drop group. We believe in “you do you.” We are all at different fitness and skill levels, and that’s OK! We have events for beginners and more advanced events, so there is something for everyone. So whether you’ve been rocking it for years or looking to try new things, we’re an inclusive group to get you there. We are a diverse community that likes to try new things, explore, and have like-minded people to go with. We believe in making connections within the Group, the community, and the Great Outdoors.
