TOTAL CLOSURE OF BELTWAY 8 NORTHBOUND AND SOUTHBOUND AT I 10/KATY FREEWAY
"Motorists Should Expect Major Delays When Traveling in the Vicinity of Beltway 8 and I-10 Interchange"
(Houston) - Beginning 10 PM, Friday, October 12, the northbound and southbound mainlanes of Beltway 8 at the I-10/Katy Freeway will be closed until 5 AM, Monday, October 15. TxDOT contractor, Williams Brothers (WB) Construction will continue with major demolition activities associated with the Katy Freeway Reconstruction Program's I-10/Beltway 8 interchange reconstruction and will detour traffic around the demolition area. Beltway 8 northbound traffic will detour via the Boehme and Memorial exits to the Beltway 8 northbound frontage road. Beltway 8 southbound traffic will detour via the Westview exit to the Beltway 8 southbound frontage road or exit via the I-10/Katy Freeway eastbound or westbound direct connector ramps. Additional closures associated with this weekend's construction activities are as follows:
. TOTAL CLOSURE of the I-10/Katy Freeway westbound direct connector ramp to Beltway 8 southbound beginning 10 PM, Friday, October 12 to 5 AM, Monday, October 15. Detour via the Beltway 8 frontage road exit to the I-10 westbound frontage road, and make a left to the Beltway 8 southbound frontage road.
. There will be a nightly TOTAL CLOSURE of I-10/Katy Freeway eastbound between Wilcrest and Gessner starting Friday, October 12 through Sunday, October, 14 from 10 PM to 5 AM. Detour via exit to Beltway 8 frontage east of Wilcrest onto the I-10 eastbound frontage road to re-enter mainlanes west of Gessner.
. There will be a nightly TOTAL CLOSURE of the Beltway 8 southbound direct connect ramp to I-10/Katy Freeway eastbound starting Friday, October 12 through Sunday, October, 14 from 10 PM to 5 AM. Detour via the Beltway 8 southbound direct connector to I-10/Katy Freeway westbound, exit at Kirkwood and U-turn to the I-10 eastbound frontage road.
. There will be a nightly TOTAL CLOSURE of the I-10/Katy Freeway eastbound direct connector ramp to Beltway 8 northbound starting Friday, October 12 through Sunday, October, 14 from 10 PM to 5 AM. Detour via the Gessner exit, U-turn to the I-10 westbound frontage road to the Beltway 8 northbound frontage road.
. There will be a nightly TOTAL CLOSURE of the I-10/KATY HOV Lane between Wilcrest and Gessner starting Friday, October 12 through Sunday, October, 14 from 10 PM to 5 AM.
TxDOT in cooperation with the Harris County Toll Road Authority, Harris County Precinct 5 Constable's Office and the City of Houston Police Department will station law enforcement at key locations to facilitate the movement of traffic in the area. Motorists should expect delays and are encouraged when possible to avoid the area.
Motorists are reminded to expect multiple total and alternate lane closures during the course of the interchange reconstruction and should be prepared for traffic delays when traveling in the vicinity of the I-10/Beltway 8 Interchange over the next year.
