Local Career College Hosts Community Event Exploring New Hurricane Preparedness Construction and Design Techniques

WHAT: With hurricane season bearing down on the United States until November, students at Westwood College in Houston have applied their engineering and design training to provide added safety and awareness measures for residents in and around the city.

The college will host a Hurricane Resistant Housing Design Exhibition featuring building elements and techniques designed to resist winds of up to 145 mph and excessive water damage. Each of the models will be scaled to replicate the design aspects of a three bedroom home and will incorporate current features that are prominent among homes built along the coast.

The event is open to construction / design professionals and all members of the community.
