Edward Durell Stone was one of the more controversial figures of 20th-century architecture. He was both celebrated and scorned, leading a life that was simultaneously triumphant and embittered. In his presentation, Hicks Stone will address a body of work that has been largely neglected, if not outright misunderstood.
The elder Stone is best known for his designs for the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi, and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. The younger Stone details his father`s immense legacy with dramatic lesser-known works and his father's close relationships with other noted architects including Frank Lloyd Wright. Edward Durell Stone's residential work in Houston will also be discussed.
Brazos Bookstore will have copies of the new Stone biography available for purchase and signing. If you have pre-ordered a copy it will be there for you to pick-up.
