From the opening act, a fast-paced tour of seasons past and seasons yet to come, the momentum of the annual Jubilee of Dance builds at a breathtaking pace. Stanton Welch will create Rossini, a piece d’occasion showcasing 18 female dancers dressed all in white, set to an excerpt from Gioachino Rossini's 1812 comic opera La Scala di Seta. The program will also feature an excerpt from Vivacious Dispositions, a new work by Houston Ballet dancer Garrett Smith set to wind concerti by Antonio Vivaldi and Tomaso Albinoni, and a full performance of Stanton Welch's dazzlingly virtuosic Velocity, set to a pulsating score by American composer Michael Torke. The Jubilee of Dance is an evening not to be missed.
