    Houston, TX 77002
Houston's on a roll and so is BCO.
We want you to join us on Saturday, June 14th where we'll be holding a special summer Farmers Market Ride.
You might just ride away with a brand new cruiser*, compliments of Bayou City Outdoors and Urban Bicycle Gallery. Biking in Houston is getting better and better, and we want everyone to have the chance to enjoy the ride of their life this summer.
    #EnjoyTheRideBCO
Here's everything you need to know to join us on the ride and get entered in the drawing!
We will be meeting at Market Square at 8 AM Saturday morning and rolling out at about 8:30. From there, we'll head over to Urban Harvest Market on Eastside. Bring a backpack or basket to carry all the amazing goodies from tons of different vendors. You’ll find fresh fruits and vegetables, homemade bread and pasta, local goat cheese and flowers. It's a top Houston destination, and we'll hangout while everyone has coffee, a snack or two, explores the shops, and enjoys the live entertainment!
We will take a different route back downtown to Market Square, maybe even checking out the new Buffalo Bayou trail. Once back at Market Square we'll have the cruiser drawing.
How do you win you ask?
First everyone needs to RSVP at http://BayouCityOutdoors.com !
Then head on over to our Facebook page at Facebook.com/bayoucityoutdoors, become a fan and comment on their favorite biking path in the Greater Houston Area.
Once that is done, bonus points are awarded for fans to gain more entries. You have the option of following us on Twitter and Instagram, and/or uploading a photo of your favorite bike path in Houston on the social media platform of your choice.-- don't forget to use the official #EnjoyTheRideBCO hashtag so we can find it. Fans can enter the contest once per day. The contest begins on May 19th and contest entries will be accepted until 12 PM Central Time on Friday, June 13, 2014. The winner will be selected through a random drawing among all eligible entries sent in during the promotion period. The winner will then be notified via e-mail.
*We'll be giving away a $250 gift certificate to Urban Bicycle Gallery once we get back to Market Square. The winner can use it towards a new cruiser; UBG has some awesome ones, or spend the certificate however they please.
If you don't have a bike to participate in the Farmers Market Ride, please utilize Houston's awesome bike share program- Bcycle. They are all over the city and you can rent a bike for the day, or pick up an annual membership. There are a few stations near Market Square Park. https://houston.bcycle.com
Live nearby and want to get dropped off and not pay or mess with parking? Zip Cars will be providing rides with bike racks for people interested in carpooling. (Carpool locations will be posted June 3rd.)
Or, you can park downtown near Market Square - street parking is metered and there's always room in the Market Street garage.

Sunday afternoon - usually back at the Center around 3:00 and then we head back to Houston - tired, happy and ready to come back and do it again!!

San Marcos is about 2 hours and 45 minutes from Houston. It is possible to get up very early, drive in for the lessons and then drive home. It is more fun to plan on staying for the entire weekend or come in on Friday night, stay over (details below) have dinner and then possibly decide on Saturday afternoon that you had so much fun you want to go on Sunday, too. Happens all the time!
RSVP - please RSVP on the calendar for Saturday &/or Sunday so we have a head count
What to expect if you are NEW...
If you have never joined us for this weekend instruction before you are in for a treat. You will be learning from some of the top instructors in the country, right here in Texas! The instructors tailor the lessons to each individual student, so you can work on specific skills or general knowledge.
What to expect if you have taken this class before...
I have taken this class 5 times (okay, maybe I'm slow learner:)) but every time, I learn new skills. You will have the opportunity to work on rolling if you wish, new strokes and advanced strokes and skills.
    Details for the weekend:
ALL Kayak Equipment & instruction are included in the price for the weekend - the following is what you will need to bring:
WHAT TO BRING for the day:
    sunscreen
    watershoes or sandals
swimsuit or water shorts and rashguard or t-shirt to keep the sun off
    water bottle and snacks
    Towel and dry clothes
    cash or cc for lunch
Most of this will be left in your car except your water and snacks. If you have a small dry bag that you can throw water, snack and sunscreen in that is great. They can be found at REI and Academy. If not, usually there is someone who can help hold stuff for you
Dinner - we have an event on Friday night for dinner in San Marcos if you can arrive in time. We hangout, meet the instructors, meet each other and generally just chill. Breakfast is usually something you brought or just grab on your way to the Olympic Outdoor Center (OOC). Lunch is at a local spot so bring cash or cc, you should bring a snack or two also. Bar powers and water are a good option. Dinner Saturday night is also in San Marcos. Sunday breakfast and lunch are a repeat of Saturday. If you paddle Sunday we finish on the river early enough for you to get back to Houston for a good night''s rest.
