Bayou City Outdoors Hiking In Houston

Want to go hiking without having to travel outside of the city? Come discover all the trails and hideaways along the Buffalo Bayou! Get lost exploring the winding flat trails, bridges, and modest hills while exercising at an easy to moderate pace. Along this 6 mile hike we will pass the bat viewing area, art sculptures, and maybe even one of the rumored Buffalo Bayou alligators or Osprey couples!
We meet at Cleveland Park on the north side of Memorial Dr., there is a foot-walkway over Memorial here. The hike will start here and then we head towards downtown on the north side of the bayou. There is parking along the street for free.
When we reach downtown, we’ll stop for a water/coffee break so bring a few dollars. At the end of the hike you will have worked hard, made new friends and discovered all sorts of Houston secrets along Buffalo Bayou in our Bayou city!
As long as it is cool outside, this is a dog-friendly event for your canine friends who are up for six miles.
Plus, if you’re so inclined, you can join us for a holiday brunch at Beavers, 2310 Decatur Street from 12:30 – 2:30PM.

At BCO we're always asking - how can we make this better? We decided what if we take our awesome InfoSocial and add a world-class class? Shazam - we've taken our monthly InfoSocial and added an event-twist! You can visit with friends, learn more about BCO, meet Event Leaders and this month you can learn about Geocaching from our experts. We guess between all of them they have found over 8000 caches - that's a lot of hiding places!

Get ready to embrace your inner child and go on a grown up version of a treasure hunt in the Technology age! We’ll show you how to create your own urban or backcountry quest with this easy-to-use technology. You’ll find hidden treasure in some of the most unlikely places! You may even find a treasure you didn’t know existed!
We have the private room blocked off for our Geocaching experts from 7:00 to 8:00pm. You can ask questions in small, break-out groups. Look over GPS' and get pointers on how to use. Check out Geocaching.com and learn the ins-and-outs of the site. Plus, if you haven't found a cache before, we'll show you a couple plus maybe help you plant a "travel bug"
Get out, get active and get social! Join us to learn more about how you can get outdoors and find your own cache of adventure! Meet us at Stag’s Head Pub to begin your adventure. Don’t forget that Stag’s Head has a great Happy Hour with $5 pizzas!
With 85 to 100 events a month - from kayaking to camping, biking to hiking, concerts to wine-tastings - we never run out of things to do or friends to meet!

Why is Bayou City Outdoors the largest social activity club in Houston? It’s because we are a group of friends always looking to bring in new folks and share the experiences of the growing BCO community. We nurture this community through regular Meet and Greets where long-time members, new members and those who are just scoping us out gather to Just Hang-out, Y’all! And that’s what it is, a no-pressure, good time evening where non-members and members alike can gab with their BCO buddies and make plans for the year ahead.
Come hang out at a great new venue in the heart of Midtown – Mongoose versus Cobra. Enjoy specially crafted beer or a cocktail from their ginormous menu in their equally ginormous space. BCO gets happy hour specials all night long – try one of their specialty beers ½ pint for $4!
Parking is in the BIG, PRIVATE Parking Lot or the surrounding streets
