I think this could be a great nickname for houston "The Forgotten City." It sounds like a movie title, and I think a screenwriter should make a movie of the city of houston. People passes up Houston to visit other cities in Texas. They come to Houston last if they only have family here, or doing business. We're the fourth largest city in the nation behind Chicago, L.A., and New York, and they treat us like we're 50th largest city. They rather talk about Dallas, or San Antonio before they talk about Houston. Houston get's no respect at all, and we hosted the superbowl, and baseball all star game. They rather film movies in L.A., Chicago, and New York, even New Orleans. What about Houston? Houston has alot of areas to film movies. I guess they don't know what Houston offers, but I hope movie companies well know soon.

I believe that Houston made the top 10 list (along with Austin) for "Best Cities to Film In". This was based on many factors. Filmakers actually see Houston as a desirable place to film.

About a year or so ago, I saw some cheesy made for TV movie about a fault line. A new fault line was developing, splitting the US in half. The fault line made it's way all the way down to Houston, and destroyed it. There's a scene where you can see the fault line demolishing downtown, as the Chase building, I-45/I-10 interchange, and other structures fall down. They even wrote in a nuclear power plant located somewhere NW of town.

also a 1976 TV movie called "Murder at the World Series"

A relative of mine -- Michael Parks -- was in that movie. And we visited him when they were filming in the Astrodome. I met Karen Valentine and almost had a heart attack (I was 14-years-old)

Howard Hughes was actually born in Humble.

I walked onto the set of The Chase during filming on Rice Blvd. I was headed to Half Price Books at the time.

Howard Hughes Corporation is what the business is called now. They are doing alot of things in Nevada right now. Must be cousins or something,he was a only child.I know that alot of people tried to make claim on his estate.Wow,how cool to be at a filming.Costs for filming in Houston and Austin are really cheap compared to other places. You got me going on the HH thing,I will get more info for you

I'm watching Arlington Road, and had no idea it was filmed in Houston until just now at the end of the movie when they had a short skyline shot of Houston and the guy is on Allen Parkway going under the underpass. And then he starts going into the Museum of Natural Science.

I still live in the Astrodome. It's a lot quieter these days...

My dad worked on a lot of movies shot in Houston. One of the first was "Brewster". When I was very small, like 4 or 5, he took me to the dome to see them building the wings. It left a deep impression on me.

I saw that movie this weekend and noticed the same shots. You can see Continental Center and the old Enron building

I've never seen the movie, but I lived on Dixie Farm Road in Pearland while they were filming in a new subdivision there. That would have been around '97 or so...Is "Dixie Woods" the right name of the subdivision? I haven't been down that way in over 10 years now.

I have a friend who recently worked on a National Geographic show ("Locked Up Abroad"), which was partially filmed in Houston.

Several episodes of "Property Ladder" were also filmed in the Houston area.

If anyone is interested, they are filming a movie at the Conoco at DairyAshord and Eldridge. Don't know if they are still there NOW, but they were there as of 5:30pm today. For those who think I am crazy saying Dairy Ashford and Eldridge, perhaps you are more familiar with the Eldridge and I-10 area. Anywho, they took over the whole store and were filming a scene at the pumps.

Today, Turner Classic Movies showed The Houston Story, (at least) portions of which were shot in Houston, circa 1955. It opens outside the police station, showing the cornerstone with the date 1950. Is this the Riesner Street building?

Other shots early in the movie include Hermann Park, South Main and the statue of Sam Houston. Since this was a William Castle movie I suspect that much of it was filmed in the LA area. However, there are also street level views of downtown (Main and McKinney?), the Gulf Freeway surrounded by nothing at all and quaint, pre-interstate roadsigns.

Best shots were interiors and exteriors of the still unremuddled Houston International (now Hobby) airport terminal.

The movie? A so-so story about mobsters in Houston trying to strike it rich by diverting oil from other drillers. With prices being what they are, maybe it's ripe for a remake!

I was an extra in "They still call me Bruce". We shot a fight sceen in the Sam Houston Colusim and had a blast. You can see myself and a friend for about three seconds in the movie.

Brewster as in Brewster McCloud?

Hey Brewster, Is that you? Didnt know you still lived there. How have you been since the accident?

Wow I didnt know so many movies has been made here. I actually have Murder At The World Series recorded on VHS from an airing on KTXH in 1992. Man I remember when that aired on ABC in 77. Its cool because they used some of the reporters from KTRK for news reports or interviews with the Astros. Bob Allen is in a few scenes

I was a paid extra in Murder at the World Series. I was in the crowd of real fans that was going into the Dome for a day game, while cops were on the lookout for the guy who had threatened to kill people during that game. I hear you asking why they would need extras if they already had a real crowd showing up for a real game.

They put about a dozen paid extras around the star -- Bruce Boxleitner -- while he was blending in with the real crowd going into the Dome. They shot that whole scene from 4 or 5 angles over at least half an hour, and without paid extras around him, the star would have had different faces around him in every shot. With us paid ringers there, they always had the same faces in every shot -- including MINE. :D

Standing around watching a top director - Andrew McGlaglen - do his thing with a top flight film crew was a very interesting and enlightening experience. I think of it as the day I learned how movie sausage is made. I made 50 bucks for three hours "work". Heck I would have done that for free.

I ended up in a couple of short clips in the final cut that was on TV. Several friends in other parts of the country called me within minutes asking "hey did I just see you on TV?" It was a lot of fun.
