Baldwin Pierce Crossing

Anyone know what's going on at the corner of Baldwin & Pierce, right across from Komodo? There's an existing building with a "for lease" sign in front, I believe it's offices. 1916 Baldwin St, currently owned by SMBHC LLC: http://hcad.org/reco...^&bld=1&tab=

I'm wondering what's going on with the empty tracts around that structure. For awhile the valets at Cyclone's were using them for parking but now the lots are all torn up, some trenching from the north corner of the lot south east to Baldwin (sidewalk is gone, actually, almost fell in the trench one night walking my dogs before they had fencing up).

1910 Baldwin (SMBHC LLC): http://hcad.org/reco...^&bld=1&tab=

1914 Baldwin (SMBHC LLC): http://hcad.org/reco...^&bld=1&tab=

211 Pierce (SMBHC LLC): http://hcad.org/reco...^&bld=1&tab=2

The empty tracts all have hearings coming up next month. Just wondering if anyone knows what the plans are for these lots.

SMBology (looks like an IT firm) is the only tenant I can find for 1916 Baldwin. Justin Singer is the founder and president, he's also listed as the director for SMBHC LLC so he owns all the land.

I've been wondering also (I live across the street in the EDGE)...they have been working on the grading/drainage for a while now, but there is never anyone there when I am walking/biking by...

That mixed with the work they are doing to the EDGE makes walking down there fun. Almost as fun as trying to drive down it.

...and the Bagby St construction -- every day is another fun adventure.

The EDGE stuff will be done shortly...

I thought there was thread about this but maybe not. Swamplot reported on Oakmont last year http://oakmonthouston.com

From Swamplot in March 2016:

A notice of a TABC application, requesting permission from the agency to serve mixed drinks and stay up late, is now up by a door of the 1930s house-turned-office-building at 1916 Baldwin St. The 2-story home, which was remodeled as office spaces in the early 2000s, is currently listed as the home of D’Olive Law Firm, the Texas Passport Center and Bibby, McWilliams, & Kearney, among the latest in a string of law-minded businesses to inhabit the space 1 block north of Gray St.

The bar-to-be sits between the condos at 207 Pierce St. and the RISE Lofts and Edge condo complexes across Baldwin; the Camden City Centre apartments hedge in the parking lot from the north. The space is also just across Pierce St. from Komodo Pub, another house-gone-bar tucked back a block from the restaurant-filled stretch of Gray to the south.

From Houston Press (June 2016) about Oakmont under construction at 1916 Baldwin

As this vortex of crazy continues to swirl around him, Jarrah has decided to open a new venture, a forthcoming restaurant called Oakmont at 1916 Baldwin, just four blocks from Gasla…er…360 Midtown.

Secretary of State records show that the registered agent is Basel Aljarrah, Jarrah’s brother. According to TABC records, Aljarrah also owns the property. A public notice that was filed and reported in the Daily Court Review confirms Jarrah’s involvement, with Oakmont referring to him as “Manager.”

Oakmont is open at 1916 Baldwin. The bar opened this week and hosted Jared Lang's annual lavish holiday party over the weekend.

Pictures from Facebook and Instagram showing the finished construction of the bar's rear and backyard.

Looks cool. Any ideas which companies are doing the metal work for this place or others like it?
