I moved from Houston in the mid 80s. Here for the weekend. Needless to say, it's changed!! Anyone know what happened to

Cardis? (I worked at the Cardis in Austin, it was demolished to build a freeway) 

Agora Ballroom?

Rockers? 

Nickels? 

I found out what happened to the OP-some crazy fuzzy memories there... 

I'm also quite upset about Old San Francisco Steakhouse and Vargos. Even family dinners were fun there

This article is several years old, but you'll probably find it of interest. Not sure if the documentary was ever made, but I don't recall hearing anything about it since this was published:

Agora Ballroom closed many years ago, and the space it formerly occupied has been quite a few other things since then.

some are dead and the rest are just old.  I am happy to be the later and I wish all of you the same.

Cardi's closed 2/28/87.
half of it is now Spotlight Karaoke, the other half was a chinese buffet... Took the ex there once when we were married, and she wondered why I had a smirk on my face the whole time... I was like, if these walls could speak.... we were sitting in a booth that was where the backstage area was.

 

Agora Ballroom closed in the early 80's, became faces, then City Streets, is now just a part of Windsor Plaza

 

Rockers closed in 86, is now a cheap furniture store.
The band I was with at the time was playing one night, we went to play the next night, and were told to remove our stuff since the club changed names and formats- it went from a rock club to a dance club overnight!

Did you request that specific booth? I would have had to spill a few memories. At least the smirk would have been explained ....

Not only the walls,  the asphalt on the parking lot could tell a few stories too!!  I met my first love there. Lol

I was on the stage crew, specializing in lighting, worked with everyone there from late 85 until the end

If it was anything like the Austin Cardis, I'm sure you miss it. We were a pretty tight group. Most of us stayed friends a long time after they closed. Rock bars were nothing like the two faced, back stabbing, environment at most other clubs. Confetti was the worst.
