Popular Post Urbannizer
http://www.laidesigngroup.com/single-post_coleman_center.html Quote Located in Houston, the Coleman Global Center will be the leading nonprofit development and think-tank for affordable housing design in the United States. As a research, learning, business and nonprofit link for policy makers in the region, CGC will work with regional, national and international leaders to 1) preserve existing housing resources 2) develop coordinated strategies for regional affordable housing development; 3) provide independent housing policy to stake holders and the community at-larger; and 4) serve as an international model for housing solutions for communities of need. The building is 35,000 square feet housed in five stories.

Popular Post Triton
Quote THE GLASSY SPHERE shown in the rendering looks to be a design for a nonprofit workspace and affordable housing thinktank called the Coleman Global Center. An attached description of the project, from Colorado-based LAI Design Group, doesn’t specifically identify the location of the rendering (beyond noting that project is “in Houston”). But another rendered view shows the bubble right across Dowling St. from the almost-finished new community center atEmancipation Park (and its easy-to-identify reflection pool) at the corner withElgin. And Leah Binkovitz’s May interview with state representative Garnet Coleman and a set of collaborating Third Ward nonprofit directors ambiguously highlights that particular empty lot as playing an important role in plans to shift how gentrification unfolds in the neighborhood. 5 stories. http://swamplot.com/the-glittering-5-story-affordable-housing-thinktank-bubble-that-could-rise-by-emancipation-park/2016-07-19/

Luminare
A little overkill in terms of the sphere. Kind of jarring and the execution isn't every smooth. It makes me think that someone had idea for a sphere building and were like....well how do we make this thing touch the ground? and this was the result. Its at least something different, so I applaud the effort!

intencity77
Another boring box. While I wasn't “in love” with the previous rendering at least it was something different. This town’s architecture is obsessed with straight lines and boxes.

pablog
I disliked the old one so much!! The new one is a lot better. The problem with the old design is that in 5 years it will look outdated. I have seen spherical buildings like that before and I always think they look old. The new one, although not different from other buildings, will still look nice come 10-15 years. Just my opinion.
