I'd be shocked if construction on these were imminent, but over a longer timeframe, I'd mark this as "plausible" given the nature of urbanization in Houston.

Towers pop up any and everywhere in Houston. The chance that this are of midtown getting some towers is more likely than not

EllenOlenska
Well, it seems like there are a large number of "plausible" looking towers proposed for midtown. They range from 100 feet to almost 700 feet. They have offices and residential. Some more and some less serious. I hope to see them all pop up. BigFootsSocks
So we get announcements of a new forum coming but we still can't get these ad redirects figured out? Seems like some people need to work on their priorities..
ArtNsf
Although it doesn't say how many floors here that I can see, it would seem that these buildings will make quite an impact at over 500' and 600' in height. I'm guessing around 40 to 45 stories ?

The rendering you posted is for the tower Caydon (the Australian company) is building. We have already received renders of their 27-story tower.
Urbannizer
FAA links have been updated, both towers will be mixed-use residential. Edit: Gensler is the architect and Caydon is the developer.

I'll feel a lot more confident about these towers if Caydon can get a construction loan for The Midtown to move forward on that. Some of what I've been reading (can't remember the source but it was one of Swamplot's linked articles) suggested Houston could turn into a landlord's market by late 2019.
EllenOlenska
Okay, I was under the impression there were two Caydon. A beige affair and another facing it. Then there was news of these two towers connected by a sort of promenade. Does that bring it to four? Or does one tower cross over.

Here: Quote Private lender Development Finance Partners is backing Melbourne developer Caydon Property Group with a funding injection of more than $100 million. Caydon’s projects include suburban Melbourne apartments, as well as developments in the US where it is building a 27-storey, 357-apartment and retail project in Houston, and a 30-storey, 200-apartment site in Seattle. The DFP deal comes as bank funding becomes more difficult to access for some developers, due to tighter lending restrictions placed on banks by APRA. The clampdown has forced some developers to turn to alternative lenders.

Popular Post Urbannizer
It's official: https://www.bizjournals.com/houston/news/2017/08/10/exclusiveaustralian-developer-acquires-more-land.html Caydon Property Group has acquired more land in Midtown for a mixed-use project anchored by a luxury apartment tower. The Melbourne, Australia-based developerpurchased a 41,000-square-foot site on a half city block bounded by Main, Dennis and Fannin streets. Current Standing Developments — formerly known as PLC Capital Corp. — sold the property to Caydon for an undisclosed amount. The deal closed on Aug. 2. The site currently serves as surface parking for The Greensheet building, a 1955 mid-century office building at 1000 McGowen St. Current Standing plans to redevelop the four-story office building into a mixed-use office, retail, bar and rooftop event space. Brent Friedman, president of Current Standing, said Caydon approached him last year to acquire the parking lot. The Houston-based real estate firm decided to sell the property to Caydon because the city had built a 400-spot parking garage at the Midtown “Super Block” Park and because Caydon planned to build its own parking garage. “We had planned at some point when multifamily picks back up to monetize the surfacing parking as a joint venture, ground lease or sale,” Friedman said. “Caydon was very aggressive, and we ultimately decided we do it now.” Caydon plans to develop additional high-end residential, retail and a large parking garage on the site, which sits two blocks north of its luxury apartment project. 13
